Hart to Hart

The Slip

With the storm raging outside it all fell on deaf ears when Jonathan Hart and Max looked to the stairs to see Jennifer laying there not moving. Fear washed over the young man's mind as he rushed over to his wife's side. He got down on his knees and gently caressed her face.

"Jennifer…" left Jonathan's lips.

Again she was unresponsive he looked up to Max he was unsure of what to do next. Jonathan laid his head down to her chest, he sighed in relief to hear her heart beat as a light snore escaped her lips. Jonathan gently shook his wife and after a few moments he heard a moan escape her lips as Jennifer struggled to open her eyes.

"Open your eyes darling." Jonathan instructed in a calm tone.

"Oh darling can't I just take a little nap…" Jennifer said in a semi conscious state.

"Not right now dear…please open your eyes." Jonathan pleaded.

Jennifer sighed then winced when she felt a pain pulsed through her head, along with a few bit of back and shoulder pain as well; but she did what her husband said and opened her eyes. The room looked blurry, she saw a person in front of her wearing something yellow and orange. Freeway barked then whimpered as he licked Jennifer's fingers. She groaned as she pet the pup she looked over to see the blue robe of her husband, she could feel him looking at her with his baby blue eyes.

"Are you okay darling?"Jonathan asked.

"I've been better." Jennifer replied.

Jonathan helped his wife to her feet. Jennifer shook her head in hopes of clearing up her sight and it did she could slowly make out the living room again.

"Well darling I know one thing." Jennifer said.

"What's that? Jonathan asked.

I definitely don't want to do that again." Jennifer said.

The two of them could only smile as he helped Jennifer to the couch. Jonathan nodded to himself he would make sure that would never happen again, for he couldn't live with himself if anything ever happened to his beloved wife.
