Preface

"Are you okay?" I asked quickly, putting my hands around his jaw. His look was filled with fear.

"What are you doing? You shouldn't be up here." he spoke smoothly and quickly.

"I was…" I started but stopped from the noise coming from behind me. The look on his face assured me I was not hearing things. Upon turning around, I saw little white figures coming out of the sand barrier. "No." we both whispered simultaneously. Quickly, I turned back around and covered him as the clay exploded. I could feel the heat seeping through me, along with the massive pain. I blinked some taking in his large, frightened eyes. Slowly I fell forward and his arms caught me ever so gently. I heard his breath deep in my ears. I didn't protect him at all. I felt his hand on my back, the sound of soft flesh squishing filled my ears.

"I'm sorry." I choked silently and dropped into the dark hole of unconsciousness.
