broken Broken Death

I've sure enjoyed the rain
but I'm looking forward to the sun
You have to feel the pain
when you lose the love you gave someone
I thought by now the time
would take away these lonely tears
I hope you're doing fine all alone,
but where do I go from here

He looked into the palm of his hand. The locket he had been holding had pressed her beautiful name into it. His eyes blurred, and a single tear dropped to the cold dirt, so newly turned. He leaned against the cold stone, feeling her name again on his back, through the stiff collared shirt he wore.

Without you I'm not okay
And without you
I've lost my way
My heart's stuck in second place
Without you

A cold wind blew through the cemetery, rustling the tall poplars. He remembered the innocent promises they had exchanged between soft kisses. He had promised her the world, and she had kept his going, giving him the strength to carry on. And, looking at these same poplars, he had promised to keep her safe. He told her about their long life together, and how they would be buried together.

Well I never thought I'd be
lying here without you by my side
It seems unreal to me that
the life you promised was a lie
You made it look so easy
making love into memories
I guess you got what you wanted
but what about me

But where was she now? Dead. He had let her down, betrayed her. He had let her die without him, so alone in a world out to kill her. And it had succeeded. But it would not take their bond. It could not.

Somebody tell my head to try to tell my heart
That I'm better off without you
'Cause baby I can't live

Crying, he stood, taking some of the soft dirt from her grave. He yelled into the silent sunset, "Why?! Why did you take her?" He threw the dirt into the air and pulled a gun from inside his shirt. He laid it on his hand, examining the cool metal. "And with this," he whispered, through cracked lips, "I die." He held the gun to his head, and a stillness filled the air. The wind stopped, the trees stilled, and no birds sang. It seemed as though the world had stopped, this brief instant in time, this doomed second.
A shot rang out into the cold silence. And all was still.

Without you I'm not okay
And without you
I've lost my way
My heart's stuck
in second place
Without you

A/N: This was easily one of the weirdest stories that I have ever read. I wrote it all depressing-like, and I'm not really depressed! (A bit, because I'm reading Great Expectations and pip just left home... :( ) Oh well, whatever, Please review!

D/C: Not mine!
