A/n I own nothing I'd thank FelixFelicisWriter for her amazing betaing.
"What gives you the idea that Hogsmeade is allowed for students after this time, Ms--?" a silky voice said, sending shivers down Sigyn's spine.
She was terrified as well as excited for having a chance to meet her husband… She was the only one who believed that he wasn't guilty. Her uncle and her Foster sister thought she was wrong and innocent to think so. She turned around, her eyes brimming with tears.
"S-Severus?" she stuttered, her eyes wide in shock.
He cast Lumos and froze. His wife. One of the parts of heaven in his life after the death of Lily. His Sigyn.
"Sigyn?" he asked, his cold voice turning into a soft one.
She nodded.
But what was she doing here? These days, nowhere was safe. Not for her. He had told the dark lord that he married her just to torture her. Which wasn't true. Obviously. But if the Dark Lord found out this accidental meeting of the couple, what was supposed to happen? Sigyn would be killed. His position would be in danger. The war wouldn't be like what Severus and Dumbledore wanted it to be. Maybe the boy who lived, that famous Potter would be in lots of trouble and maybe he'd lose because he never had an idea what he was doing. And in the time of war, that would cost thousands of lives. Not that he cared about those thousands. He only cared about Lily's son and his wife's safety. Sigyn to know the truth before he died.
"Sigyn, you are to hold my hand, we are apparating to the safe place where our conversation wouldn't be heard." , he whispered sternly.
Sigyn gave him a wide smile. They held hands and side-apparated .
"So, is it now safe to talk?" she asked after they started walking away from the apparition point. She hugged herself to keep her body warm.
"No!"
She smiled at his bluntness. It gave her assurance that everything was going to be fine. Fine was a really strong word though. It was never the word that could have defined her previous living situation and relationship with Severus Snape. Perhaps interesting was more appropriate. They walked until Severus spun her around by her wrist.
"It might be safe if we converse at home." He whispered.
Sigyn's eyes widened, her eyes roamed around, taking a look. It was indeed beautiful even in the darkness of the night. She could hear the nightingale's chirp and the soothing .
"Is that-is that your home?" she asked pointing towards the last house in that alley. He responded with a mere nod.
She followed Severus's long strides and entered into the house. While Severus lighted the hall magically, she observed the house with curiosity. There were muggle things and it seemed that it wasn't used or precisely cleaned in many years. But one thing she saw wasn't a muggle artefact for sure. A pensive. What was a pensive doing here? When she looked at Severus, he had a smirk on his face.
"Harry Potter told the order I killed Dumbledore. Are you aware of that?" he asked calmly, yet not coldly.
Sigyn nodded.
"I would be needing your words, Darling." he hissed.
"Yes." Replied Sigyn.
"And yet you didn't believe him?" he asked in a mocking tone.
Sigyn rolled her eyes.
"What gave you the idea that I am a fan of the boy who lived, I'll never know!" she said with a sigh.
He was amused by her answer. But she must know, the inner voice said. The reasons behind her belief about his innocence and her trust weren't clear. He could have used legilimency on her, she wouldn't guard her mind against him, but it was inappropriate. Did he really care about it? He knew what made her trust her in this situation but he chose to ignore it.
"Why?" he asked ,his voice wavered. She looked confused and had an amazing half-smile on her lips.
"Why I trusted you?" she asked completing his question.
He nodded.
"When that marriage-law was passed, you could have refused to accept me as your wife, you had that privilege, and you wouldn't have faced any conflict. But you didn't, did you? For my safety. And I knew that you'd never cease to do it. And if Dumbledore trusted you, he must have had some reason." She said with a smile.
"Do you think I am a good person?" Severus asked, cupping her face, stroking her cheeks with his thumb.
"I don't know." Her voice cracked.
Where was he leading this conversation to? Was he really a death eater who killed Dumbledore?
"I was never a good person. I have done numerous evil things in my life. Yes, I am a death-eater and I killed Dumbledore. But this isn't the whole truth, Sigyn. What I want you to know is only yours to know, if anyone other knows this, I'd have to kill you and another person if I am alive, if the dark lord hasn't killed me. If this discloses," he cupped her face gently, "I'd be dead. Along with many. And the dark lord would win." he said, his voice intense and his eyes never leaving Sigyn's.
Her lips were twisted in a frown, she was confused yet she was determined to keep that secret. Severus took a flask from his robes, emptying it in the pensieve
"Do you know, by chance, how to use a pensive?" she shook her head, before she knew, he guided her face into it.
