"Minny, Minny, look!" Teddy exclaimed. He rushed over to where she was and held paper drenched in watercolour paints for her inspection. Hermione knelt down to see it better.
"Wow, what pretty colours," Hermione said. The placement of said colours was questionable, but Teddy seemed to have some sort of an eye for which colours to use together.
Teddy grinned and ran back over to the table to set it down. Hermione and Ron were babysitting him, and Andromeda had sent him along with the art supplies. There were already a wide array of paintings drying on the table, all of which he'd completed over an hour. It was amazing how quickly a six-year-old could fill a paper with paint.
Teddy ran back to Hermione, his now-blue eyes aglow. Just a few seconds ago, they'd been brown, and Hermione swore he'd made himself shorter since then.
"Can you do the bird thing?" he asked sheepishly.
"Once we clean up," Hermione said. The two walked over the table, Hermione now infinitely thankful for the paper tablecloth she'd put over it, and set to work cleaning. Teddy moved his precious paintings to the coffee table, and Hermione dumped out his bowl of water. Soon, they were down.
"Now you can do it!" Teddy said.
Hermione took her wand from her pocket and performed the charm. "Avis."
Immediately, seven small canaries appeared, fluttering around Teddy as he chased them. Ron trodded into the room from where he'd been in his office, staring at the birds.
"Ah, so you deign to be in our presence again," Hermione teased, raising her eyebrows.
"I had to owl something to Kingsley. Hi Teddy," Ron greeted as the boy wrapped himself around Ron's leg like a koala to a tree.
"You're back," Teddy said, releasing Ron's leg from the koala grip. Hermione tipped her wand ever so slightly in Ron's direction. One of the birds flew over and landed in his hair.
"There's a bird on his head!" Teddy ran around the room, waving his hands to scare the other six birds. They scattered, chirping loudly.
"Careful, Teddy," Ron reminded him. "The downstairs neighbours already think we're crazy as it is."
Teddy nodded and quieted his footsteps, still chasing the birds.
They are much nicer when they're not attacking me," Ron commented, pointing to the bird.
