"We have to get out-"
As soon as I said that, the door exploded and young telkhines came out, trying to find us.
"Put your cap back on," Percy ordered me "Get out!"
"What?" I shrieked "No! I'm not leaving you."
Get out and leave him here to get himself blasted? No way! Besides he still didn't even know how I felt about him…
"I've got a plan." he said, looking surprisingly confident.
I don't care, I thought.
"I'll distract them." Percy continued "You can use the metal spider-" Follow the spider? No freaking way. "maybe it'll lead you back to Hephaestus. You have to tell him what's going on!"
Part of me knew he was saying the truth - it's not like we really had much choice, it was getting killed anyway or trying his plan out. But of course I wouldn't say I agreed.
"But you'll get killed!" I said, trying to look confident but really being at the verge of tears.
"I'll be fine." He assured me "Besides, we've got no choice."
I glared at him, trying to decide if I should punch him or hug him. To my surprise, I did neither.
I kissed him.
A quick kiss that only lasted a second, maybe even less. But if he was dying, I had to do it, I had to show Percy how I felt about him.
He looked at me, stunned.
"Be careful, Seaweed Brain." I said as I put my Yankees cap back on.
As soon as I got out of there, everything exploded. My heart stopped, tears started to run down my face.
Don't die Percy, oh gods please don't die….
