Prologue
The sun is touching every part of my body from the tips of my curly blonde hair to my toes. With my eyes closed, all I can smell is Iris and grass being crushed under me. Its sweet smell filling my nose with every breathe I take. I look down my body to see that I'm bare-foot wearing a white knee-length sundress. It's perfect; there is no war to worry about, no future engagement to a man I hate. Nothing. As I continue to enjoy this moment of peace, I don't see a mysterious figure floating towards me. As I felt the grass and flowers around me shrivel and die, I open my eyes.
The sun mysteriously disappeared making everything look grey and dead, not one shred of life could be seen. The temperature drops about fifty-degrees, my breathe starts to come out in steamy whites puffs, as the dark shadow appears and stands over me. Its blood lust filled eyes staring down at me, taking in my reactions. My skin starts to get goose-bumps as fear fills me to the core. I can't find the courage to say anything until the shadow bends down next to me. "What are you?" I ask in almost a whisper, steam exiting my mouth. It bends down till it's next to my ear. "You're…..Death." It raises its fist and brings it down upon my neck.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" I shot out of bed sweat dripping from forehead and neck making my hair and black tank-top to cling to me like a second skin. "God! Why do I keep having these dreams?" *tap* *tap* I look up to see a tall man with brown hair and brown eyes, Lux Bonteri Sr., my father, in the doorway.
"Have the nightmare again?" he asked in the softest voice. "Yes it won't go away!" He walked over and sat on the edge of the bed. "Maybe you are nervous about being sent to Aargonar or being recently promoted?" I look at the wall behind him, shaking my head, "It's not that. I just…. never mind." Lux Sr. Looked around and said with a little humor "Maybe this shadow is Travis; God knows how much you hate him." I laugh a little "Probably, I can't stand that guy and the Senate has the nerve to make me marry him just to get an alliance. It's sithspit." He looked at me with sympathy in his dark brown eyes and exhaled "I know Kana, but we all must make sacrifices if we are survive this war." "I know, but it still stinks. I guess the only upside to marrying Travis is I get to make his life a living hell." I replied with a smirk on my face. Lux Sr. smiles "That's my girl. Now go take a shower and try to go back to sleep. Tomorrow we're off to Aargonar."
"Oh Joy…." I replied getting out of bed and headed to my bathroom. Turning on the water to hot, the room quickly filled with steam. 'Like my breath in my hellish dream' I close my eyes and shake my head 'Don't think about it. It will only get worse.' I stepped in the hot water cascading down my body enjoying the burning sensation. After about twenty-five minutes I turn the water off and step out of the shower. I wipe the fog off the mirror and look. I see a girl about twenty years with average looks looking back at me. She is thin, curly blonde hair that comes up to her shoulders, blue eyes and freckles. She is shorter than most women but she had amazing curves and moderate breast size. This woman is going to be marrying a man she did not love in six months and is being shipped to another planet to fight in a war that will change her life forever.
