"I love you more today than I did yesterday," says River from the pilot's seat,
Mal smiles, "I Love you too Albatross," he replies lounging on the co-pilot seat watching her fly.
"No, I mean it, the Alliance cut and stripped my Amygdala, it is the part of the brain that processes memory and emotional reactions, the Amygdala is what creates the connection between emotions and memories, it is involved in converting short term memory to long term memory. The Amygdala also controls aggression, fear and sexual orientation" she says,
"Huh?" he replies, confusion written all over his face. He leans forward. "Can you dumb it down for those of that ain't geniuses?"
"It means I can't experience fear or aggression the same way you would and I can't remember my emotions, I can't remember what I felt yesterday, I physically can't remember what it felt like to love you yesterday, but I know that I did. So each day, I love you more than the previous day because I have nothing to compare it to from yesterday or any of the days before. Today I can feel my love for you that I know I won't remember tomorrow, and that makes me sad, But I remember that I will still love you tomorrow and I won't remember how sad I felt," River says with a small smile.
"Well then, I'll just have to remember for the both us then," Mal replies.
"I'm broken," she says.
"So am I" he replies.
He leans over and kisser her lightly.
