Blaine woke up in a haze. Nothing really made sense. The room was far too bright and noisy to be his own bedroom in Mercedes' apartment and he couldn't remember Kurt coming over.

Oh.

Memories of receiving that horrible phone call from the hospital; waiting at that damn reception desk hoping that he didn't lose Kurt permanently this time. He hugged Kurt a little bit tighter, breathing him in as if that outcome was still possible. He heard an exhale coming from Kurt and his eyes shot open. He's awake. Thank God.

He looked into those blue eyes, diluted with the pain. So much pain. Blaine just wanted to take it all away. But this wasn't something he could take away. This would haunt them for the rest of their lives. Still he tried to echo to Kurt through his eyes that it would be okay and no one would hurt him anymore. 'Not while I'm around', Blaine thought.

"Hey", Kurt said. His voice was croaky and rough from last nights events and Blaine's heart broke at that. Blaine brushed over his cut up cheek with his hand, wondering why someone would want to damage the beautiful face of fiancé.

"Kurt. How are you feeling?" Blaine asked.

"As best as I could be in this bed I suppose," he gave Blaine a lazy smile. Blaine smiled back, happy to see Kurt's beautiful smile however bruised. He noticed Kurt watching him as he analyzed his love's injuries. "I'm kind of hoping for a scar."

Blaine giggled at that. Of course his fiancé would add humour to any situation. "Well I won't deny that a battle scar would be really sexy" he laughed. Kurt joined in seconds later and soon both boys were giggling uncontrollably in the hospital bed. "But seriously. Don't do that again," he pleaded.

Kurt sighed, "You know me. You know why I did that. I know you would've done the same Blaine."

"Yes I would've. But Kurt you know that I can't stand losing you. You're lucky Kurt if something else had happened," Blaine swallowed the lump in his throat, "God I wouldn't have any idea what I would do."

"But nothing else did happen and it's nothing a little time won't fix. I'm not broken Blaine. I think this has made me stronger." Blaine took Kurt's hand stroking the back of his hand with his thumb. He was so proud of his love. He grew so much from when he met him and he loved to see how he developed and matured into the man who was going to be his husband.

Blaine looked into Kurt's eyes, "Just promise me that you won't do something like that again alone?"

"Promise. Everything is better with you beside me anyways," Kurt said closing his eyes.

"There's no where I'd rather be," Blaine noticed Kurt's relaxed face and stroked it a bit before settling back against his side, "Sleep tight Kurt. I love you."

Before drifting off he heard Kurt murmur, "I love you too."
