Chapter One: Heather

Disclaimer: Hi I'm TheFlightlessSwift also Willow from TheHypers. I helped write The Capitol Games by TheHypers so this was partly my idea so therefore the arena isn't a copy.

Also, I didn't write The Hunger Games. If I did, it wouldn't have been as amazing as how Susan Collins did it. Although I dint own The Hunger Games, I do own the characters in this fanfic nothing else.

I wake up. I stretch and yawn then get out of my bed. "Mum!" I called. "I'm up!" There's no reply. I shrug. I get changed and walk downstairs and into the kitchen. "Hey Mum, Dad and Harrison."

"Hi." Mum said glumly.

"What's wrong?" I ask.

"After the rebels took over the Capitol, they decided that they could do the Hunger Games with us. I mean, we go into the Games. It's not fair! We aren't Snow. We didn't agree to the Hunger Games, well most of us didn't." Harrison says. "Oh, it said on TV."

Why does Harrison always sound so cheerful? He's five years old, shouldn't he know what's going on?

"So when's the Reaping?" I ask.

"Tomorrow."
"What?" I exclaim. "I need to get ready."

I walk into the crowd. I see my best friend Echo. I walk up to her. "What do you think of this?"

"It's stupid." Echo says. "Just let them finish their revenge."
"But we don't know how long this will go on for." I say.

"True."

We hear high heel clicks as Sarah, a rebel from District 10 crosses the stage. She taps on the microphone. "Hello. Welcome to the 76th Hunger Games and will now be know as the Capitol Games. We have all the girls ages 12-18 in one jar and all the boys in the Capitol in another." Sarah says. "District One first." Walks over to the 'girls' jar. Sarah reaches her hand in and pulls out a small piece of paper. "Mae Abram." She says.

Mae lets the District Peacekeepers take her onto the side of the stage.

"The boy Tribute is Trey Williams."

I stop listening for the next few minutes as more names are called, none are mine.

"And now District Seven." Sarah says. The words seem to make me listen. "Cherry Seagull and Alexander Lux. District Eight now." She picks two names out. "Heather Russel and Leo Wild."

I don't struggle when the District Peacekeepers take me onstage. Only anger floods through me now.

"It's time for District 9." Sarah says. She walks over and pulls out a piece of paper from the 'girls' jar, then one from 'boys' jar. "Echo Eden and Charlie Mabo."

Echo? I think. No it can't be! One of us or both of us will die. They'll make sure that there's only one Victor. No one will be able to do what Katniss Everdeen did. If it was out of Echo or me, I'd think it was Echo.
