Macbeth had no idea what he'd gotten himself into. Really, all he'd wanted to know was what white haired demon kept feeding the redhead. That's all.
But somehow that led to him getting dragged from the guild by a armored gloved hand, shoved onto a train, and basically told to shut up for three hours straight by a girl with stars for eyes. . .and was that drool? Now he was in what was apparently called a "cake shop". Yeah, what is a "cake shop". What's "cake"?
"Cake, is a delicious delicacy which you should have more knowledge of Midnight. I am of the opinion that you would quite enjoy it in fact." The too-cheerful-to-be-legal woman said, as she promptly shoved a forkful something covered in creamy white stuff and a strawberry into her mouth.
"You're crazy Scarlet. It's not like I'm going to take your opinion on anything." Her eyes darkened and the nightmare mage shrank back, maybe just a tiny bit scared of his leader's best friend.
"Midnight. . ." she thrust the piece of confectionary things towards him menacingly.
He took it, barely, hoping that somehow the so called cake would just drop to the floor so he could just go back to the guild and sleep. Preferably with his braid in a cup of Mira's tea, it did wonders for the color. But when the thing jiggled but didn't fall, he knew he was done for. If he died by this sweet he was certainly coming back to haunt the redheaded monster.
Speaking of her, the woman's eyes had gone back to their star like form, and the slight blush in her cheeks may or may not have had him feeling a little nervous, and possibly like blushing as well. Or maybe she was just trying to get the cake again. Hmm. . ."Midnight. Aren't you going to try it?". He could've sworn she hopped forward. Like a rabbit. With really soft long, glorious, red ears. . .and the damn cute blush.
"Fine, fine demon. I'll try the damn stuff, but if I die. . .you'll be paying with your sanity" he didn't add that he'd come back to see her reaction to her preferred choice of sweets.
So, he took the fork, and carefully cut through the cake, which appeared to be a creamy yellow color, with this thick and decorative "frosting" on the side of it. Before putting it into his mouth he grabbed the strawberry. Might as well, they were a surprisingly good berry. . .
The taste was astounding. Pure experience, with so many possibilities and bounds, it was like having a nice summer nap under a tree with sweet flowers nearby, it was like not eating for a month and then having a straight packet of sugar, it was like. . .Erza. It was very much like the woman who had to be just as perfect as this cake that he had to be addicted to.
He looked up at Erza, and how her face a lit up almost as if she had this sun. . .the exact sun from his summer nap in fact. So he swallowed and then proceeded to eat the rest of the slice. Then responded to her questioning glance with a "What? It's good, and we're coming back." then promptly glared at the small Hargeon shop owner till he brought out the rest of the strawberry cake.
. . .
And over that afternoon, and every single Cake Sunday since, he learned to love cake and more importantly, the amazing woman who first introduced him to it.
And that is my first ErzaxMidnight fic! I'm actually happy with it and I really like the pairing. I know it's super short, but I haven't published something in so long it's about time even if it's small.
Please like this thing, because I'm sure I wrote both characters super bad but. . .it's cake. It screws up everyone.
