My life seems to be full of one-sided love right now, which is pretty miserable for everyone involved. Here we are, six friends, all totally in love with one another - unfortunately, we're all head-over-heels with the wrong person.

There's Natalie, a typically gorgeous blonde - except she has a brain the size of a planet. She met Josh -who is a beautiful as Nat, but with the brain the size of a pebble - on her first day of year nine. For Josh, it was love at first sight. Natalie was taking a pile of French books to the library, but Josh deliberately got in her way, causing a book explosion, with the both of them in a heap on the floor. Since then Josh has been sure that Nat is the girl for him - while she's certain the fall killed his last remaining brain cells.

Then there's Simon. Tall, glasses, uncontrollable laugh. Nat never looks at anyone the way she looks at Simon. And maybe it's the glasses but Simon never notices her. It's not that they never speak, it's just that their conversations take place at the tennis club, when he's mightily distracted .

By what? Well, the short answer is… me. I've known Si for years.

He never really got over being rejected by me in year seven I didn't want to go out with him then and I still don't now!

I wouldn't complain if it was Daniel who wanted a kiss, though. Mind you I wouldn't complain if he wanted me to run a mile waist deep in custard. You know when you were little, and your mum promised you a pet rabbit? Well, I'm like the kind before they get it. Knowing I should stop imagining perfection, but finding it impossible to think it could be anything but.

Unfortunately, it's not me that the beautiful Daniel would consider living in a hutch for. it's Samantha.

Sweet, lovely Sam, who can light up a room just by being in it. But not even Dan and Sam can be happy together, because she doesn't see anything beyond a good friendship between herself and Dan. Instead, Sam focuses all her romantic energy on…Josh.

Even as I sit writing this, in a café on the high street, I can't see anyone I would even remotely…

"Hi, mind if I sit here?" Wow, he's lovely- and wants to sit with me! "I'm Nathan. What's your name?"

Hmm, things are looking up.
