Author's Note: So I don't like this at all to be honest. But, it needed to be written! I hope some of you enjoy it.

Take a Leap
"Cassie!" Marius whispered grasping for his sister, "wait!"
The younger, blonde girl simply giggled musically slipping further out of reach as she danced down the corridor. "Don't be such a scaredy cat, Mare. We aren't going to get caught."
Marius, a somber six year old to Cassiopeia's playful five, peered carefully down the dark corridor. Cassie was making far too much noise and it was far too late, but he knew if he let her go alone something terrible would happen to her.
She reached the corner of the corridor and placed a pale hand on the brass doorknob. They weren't allowed on the roof during the day nevermind at this time of the night, but the look she threw him, golden hair swirling around her, was so full of determined mischief that Marius found himself following her before he even realised it.
Triumphantly, Cassiopeia slipped through the door and up the narrow staircase to the roof before Marius had even reached it. "Cassie, slow down! You're going to hurt yourself!"
All Marius heard in reply was a distant giggle.
He raced up the stairs, barefeet slapping against the cold stone stairs. His heart raced and his breath came in gasps and Marius burst out the top of the staircase and into the night. The wind whistled fiercely in his ears as he looked around. All he could see were chimney tops for miles in all directions. The suburbs of London stretched out as far as the eye could see, scary in the darkness.
"Cassie?" he called, shouting against the howling of the wind.
"Over here!" came the faint reply and Marius looked up. His little heart stopped beating. His flighty, firey little sister was balanced atop a skinny chimney pot. Her bare toes curled over the edge, arms spread wide for balance as the wind billowed through her nightgown and tangled her golden locks.
She looked like an angel, or a ghost.
"I'm flying Mare, I'm really flying!" she screeched in utter joy. Every gust of wind had her teetering and tottering, her tiny frame completely at the mercy of the elements and the sheer drop below her.
Without really thinking about it Marius climbed up behind her, reaching and grasping as he had done below in the safety of the corridor. "Come here, Cassie," he begged, "come down!"
Cassiopea laughed loud and clear like a bell. "You really are just a scaredy cat, Mare, why on earth should I come down?"
"Because if you don't you'll fall!" he insisted. He grabbed her arm, turning her to face him and peering intently into her eyes. "We can't fly, Cass, we don't have wings. We'll only fall."
"No, Mare. I'm a bird," she insisted eyes bright with something other than joy, something that made Marius cold inside. Cassiopeia spread her arms wide. "Watch," and with that she tipped backwards off the edge of the the chimney and the roof and began to fall. Her nightgown billowed around her, highlighting the oddly serene smile on her beautiful face.
Marius didn't think, he just followed her. Throwing himself over the edge with thoughts only of saving her. But whilst Cassiopeia was a witch, and her young magical instincts kicked in, Marius was born a squib.
So as young Cassieopeia glided serenely to the floor, sweet, brave Marius plummeted towards the ground.
