Author's Note: My friend and I made a scrapbook for a friend of ours for Christmas. In it we had twenty one shots of twenty different slash pairings that we wrote over one weekend. Yup. Ten stories each in one weekend. That was fun. Anywho, after giving her the present, we decided to put our stories up on . So, here is one of them. To read the stories my friend wrote, visit her page at steelagainstivory.
Each story we did had a different theme. This one we called 'fluffy romance'. So, enjoy and review it if you so wish. I love reviews! Unless you are a flamer, in which case, get a life that does not corrolate with mine.
And, if it isn't obvious, I do not own the characters. Only the situations I put them in.
Sunrise
Matt opened his eyes and saw stars twinkling out overhead as dawn approached. He sighed deeply and rolled over onto his side in hopes of getting a little more rest before morning came. However, after a few minutes with no prospect of sleep, the young digimon tamer decided to get up instead.
Matt sat up and stretched, lamenting the fact that he had to sleep on the forest floor yet again. With a yawn, he looked around the makeshift campsite. On one side of him T.K. lie snuggled between Gabumon and Patamon while Mimi and Palmon were asleep on T.K.'s other side. Across the long since burned out fire, Joe was wrapped up, using Gomomon like a pillow, as Tentomon sprawled over Izzy's chest. Sora and Biyomon were curled up next to each other, and Agumon was spread out by himself.
Confused, Matt looked over all of the sleeping figures again. No Tai. Figuring that Tai couldn't sleep so he decided to take a walk, the blond quietly stood up and tiptoed to the forest trail.
"Tai?" Matt whispered as he walked the dew-covered path, only to be met with the sounds of strange insects chirping. "Tai?"
Matt heard rustling in a nearby tree. A conspicuous pair of shoes were dangling from a far off branch. With a sigh, Matt grabbed a hold of the smooth bark of a low hanging branch and began the long climb up.
Finally, an exhausted and panting Matt climbed onto the limb where Tai was sitting. Without saying a word, Matt sat next to the brunet and followed his gaze towards the rapidly changing horizon.
Tai broke the silence first. Without looking away from the last visible stars in the sky, he asked, "Do you think we'll ever get back home? Will we see our families again?"
"Of course we will," Matt replied without hesitation.
Tai looked down at his hands folded in his lap. He was quiet for a long time. "I'm not so sure sometimes. Sometimes I think we're never going to get back home," he confessed.
"But we will. You know we will," Matt confronted.
Tai finally looked at Matt. Fear and uncertainty shone in his chocolate brown eyes. "But what if we don't?"
Matt searched the brunet's eyes before replying, "then I'm glad to be stuck here with you."
Tai smiled and turned back toward the horizon as the first rays of the morning cascaded down. Matt reached over to take Tai's hand in his own as Tai laid his head on Matt's shoulder. They sat in silence, watching the light of the new day surround them.
