ALLY POV.
I groan in embarrassment and held back the tears as I look at myself in the mirror for the 2nd time today in the school bathrooms. They had bugged my locker again, this time with putrid green paint the colour of moss. I glance down at my now ruined clothes. The flowery blouse I was wearing had become sticky and was more liquid than fabric, while I physically couldn't touch my jeans without needing to wash my hands. I then glance up and observed my face and hair; my makeup had now smudged almost everywhere and my hair looked like it had the same consistency and colour of seaweed. I sigh and wonder to myself why I was in this situation, and headed into the toilet and locked myself and silently cried to myself. I wait for about 5 minutes until I heard the door fly open.
"Ally?" I heard someone say. "Are you in here?" The familiar voice of Trish De La Rosa made me sigh with relief. I quickly unbolt the door and let my emotions flood down my face as I cried into Trish's shoulder.
"Ally, don't worry, it's their entire fault, they're just utter douchebags, forget about them." Trish's comforting words were soon interrupted by the entrance of my only other friends, Kim and Julie.
"I swear Ally, the next time I see them they're gonna regret ever messing with you in the first place" Kim states, with a look of revenge in her eye. "Those guys are absolute dicks because of what they-"
"Kim! Language please!" Julie said, trying to keep her cool.
I seriously don't know how we became friends in the first place. I mean me and Trish have been friends since…. Well forever really. I met Julie at an arts and crafts camp a couple years ago, then met her again high school when she transferred here, and I decided that she should join up with our small group, seeing as she knew no one. The same sort of happened to Trish and Kim, except they met at business camp, and talked all the time, totally ignoring the point of 'business camp'. Anyway, I still don't know what I'd do without them.
After I finish draining myself of tears, I look at myself in the mirror and tried to make a joke out of the situation.
"Goddammit I'm such a mess, I look like I've fallen in a slime pit you see in those Zalien movies that you watch Trish!" I state, earning giggles from Julie and Kim, and Trish who just rolled her eyes at me. She then proceeded to bring out a complete change of clothes.
"I keep them in my locker, just in case something like this happens." She says, handing them over to me. I hug her with gratitude and head into the cubicle to get changed, ready for my next class.
When the bell finally rang for the end of lunch, we head out of the toilets together and head towards history class together. As we head in and go to our separate seats, I close my eyes and try to picture myself back at camp, with Julie and Elliot. As well as meeting Julie at camp, I met this amazing British guy called Elliot. We shared a kind of summer romance, however before I could ask for any details of his phone or facebook or anything, he had to leave to catch his plane back to England. I miss him so much, and I'll probably never see him again… As I started drifting into my imaginary dreams, I was awoken by a piece of crumpled paper thrown at my back. As I turned round to pick it up, I glanced up to see who threw the paper. All I saw was the blonde mess of hair, the hell in my heaven, the Austin Moon. He smirks and gestures towards the paper. I open it and read;
Looking as sickly as ever Dorkson. You're doing my essay if we get one today, don't even think of saying no again, you know what'll happen….
I shudder at the memory of opening my locker to find only paint and didn't dare look back at him. I scanned the class until I found Trish, Kim and Julie. They're smiling with reassurance that I was going to be okay. Then I scanned the class again. How come in my only class with my friends I'm in the only class with them.
I keep talking about them, so I think it's time to introduce them. The them I keep talking about is a clique. There are two parts to the clique, the 'shepherds' and the 'sheep'. The leaders are Austin Moon; considered the school bad boy and the one every girl dreams about, yet to this day I still don't know why, Jack Brewer; school karate champion, obnoxious and egotistical, and Dallas Monroe; I sorta have a crush on him at the moment, but I'm sure. The 'sheep', so to say, were Jerry, Milton, Eddie, and Dez. We aren't particularly sure on how they became friends, but I'm not sure they even do. Me and Trish used to be best friends with Dez, but after he got offered to sit with them at lunch, he's never spoken to us since.
Oh, did I forget to mention the female specimen in their clique? Well then, there's Grace who has the same amount of brain cells as a carrot and is currently dating Eddie at the moment, however no one see's it lasting; Mika, who managed to sleep with most of the football team and still stay in a steady relationship with Jerry, and the worst of them all Cassidy Pryce. Cassidy is the biggest daddy's girl, I want everything and makes sure that everything goes her way, plus she's got a huge amount of money, considering her dad owns Blueberry Electronics. She's been dating Austin for as long as anyone could remember, and sometimes the thought makes me want to vomit… You're thinking jealousy? Not a chance, it's mainly because she and Austin always make sure that everyone knows that they're together with constant PDAs. Believe me, it's enough to make anyone barf…
I must've been thinking for ages because by the time I look up, Miss Signer is rushing into the class. She is always 15 minutes late on the dot, so I finally get out all my history books onto my desk and wait for instructions.
"Now class I've got some very exciting news today!" Miss Signer exclaims, with a beaming smile on her face. Everyone around me groaned, expecting a pop quiz. I just put my head down to rest, as I realise the lesson would now drag on. Miss Signer sighed and put her hands on her hips. "Well I guess none of you want to hear about the free class trip to London next week…." I quickly jerk my head up quickly and looked to the front. Murmurs start circulating the class which turn into full on conversations and gossip sessions. "All right class, settle do-, I said settle dow-, PLEASE BE QUIET!" screeched Miss Signer. Wow, that was new. Miss Signer hardly ever shouts. I drew my attention to the front of the class.
"Now, I entered a couple of all your pieces of work from the history essays about Independence Day into a national competition, and we had a winner in this very room! And that winner was…" I could sense Austin getting ready to stand up behind me, as if he expected to win. "Allison- oops, I mean Ally Dawson!" The sarcastic and almost confused claps came from all around the room. I slowly stand and look across the ocean of expressions. I look over to Kim, Trish and Julie, their faces filled with excitement. I looked over at Austin who was now slouching, his face bright red. He then mouths "Dorkson", which makes me frown and sit back down to face Miss Signer.
"Okay so here's what's going to happen," Miss Signer explains, "next week on the Friday, we'll be setting of at the beginning of the day, so I'll need you all to be here at 5am. From there we'll take a coach to take us to the airport, then from there we'll take a flight to Gatwick. From there it's a short walk to the hotel. I have a sheet here for all the information needed."
"What about rooms?" Dallas blurted out, glancing at me. Wait, what?
"Ah yes.." Miss Signer says, "There is a list outside the class which you will be able to look at after class." Almost as soon as she finished speaking, the bell rang and everyone jumped from their seats and ran outside the classroom. I slowly packed my bags and waited for the rush to pass.
"Ally, could I speak with you for a minute?" Miss Signer gestures to her desk. I walk over, waiting for what she would say. "I just want to thank you firstly for the trip, I mean this is massive!" I just nodd and spoke "Don't thank me, thank you for entering my work!" she laughed and carried on speaking, "Anyway, I was informed by your dad you knew a special someone from London?"
"Actually it's not like tha-"
"So I've managed to pull some strings so you will have a later curfew and will be able to see this special friend." Miss Signer was beaming with joy and I knew I couldn't upset her by letting her down
"Thank you, I'll be sure to get in contact with him" I say, before running out the room, only to find an unhappy looking Trish, Kim and Julie
"Guys… what happened?" They continue to look at the ground for a few seconds until Trish raises her head.
"Ally, look at the board." She says flatly. Uh Oh. The board.
I walk over to it, only to see anger on almost everyone's faces. I look over and realise why everyone is upset;
