AKA Pokewrite drabble No. 12. Mostly just adjusted/added details. Prompts used were snow, darkness, and sunlight. Can you guess which Pokemon it is before the end? (Obviously this challenge doesn't count if you already read this or found this story via character filter though...)

Disclaimer: I don't own Pokemon. Nuff said.

Perfect Winter

"When I was young, I counted my life in decades. Now that I have grown older, I gladly count my life in sunrises." -Clarence Edward Cahill

It did not fear the night, as so many other beings did. It loved the serene silence, the gleaming mountains, the soft snow that fell from the silvery skies. No one else, human or Pokemon, lived on that white island with it, which meant it had to go to the sea for prey. But that was fine. It preferred the peace that seclusion provided.

One of its favorite things to do was wake up in darkness, curled up in its nest. Then, as it preened its glittering plumage, it would watch as the sunlight peeked over the water like a shy hatchling, turning the sky pastel pinks and yellows. For it loved light too, and enjoyed witnessing the darksome sky turn into a great canvas, far better than anything a human could do. It wasn't like the light that came off of fire and lightning, which was harsh and harmful. Instead the bright rays skipped about the ice and snow like a joyful spirit, causing everything to shine many colors, like one of Ho-oh's rainbows.

It stretched its wings, basking in the gentle warmth. Its glinting, prism-like plumage cast off many shades of light around it, framing it in a colorful corona. Then, Articuno took to the sky, its shed ice crystals trailing behind it like a sea of stars.
