Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha or any of the characters. I wish!
Thank you to Black Eyed Mistress who was nice enough to review one of my pieces, and thus inspiring me to write another!
This is written after Miroku had already proposed to Sango.
"Here you go Miroku, I thought this would interest you," Kagome said handing him what seemed to be a twelve pound book.
He took it and held it in the crook of his arm, "a dictionary?" He asked reading the big letters on the front of the book, "What is this?"
She turned from Inuyasha who was waiting patiently for Kagome to give him his gift from her time, and answered, "All of the words in the world. It tells you the word and what it means."
He smiled politely, "Thank you Kagome-chan. This should be interesting."
He went over into a corner of the small house they were staying in for the night and leaned his staff up beside him and took a seat sitting cross-legged. He flipped open the book to the middle and saw many words. There were some that were bolded and after the bolded words there was text, and as he read he found out that these explained what the words meant.
He looked at one word, 'mortiferous' and read that it meant, 'Bringing or producing death; deadly; destructive.' That was interesting; he started reading more and more words. He was never quite aware that there could be words that meant the same as other words.
He looked up realizing that light wasn't coming through the door anymore and it had gotten dark. Kagome and Inuyasha were parallel to him; she was showing him something in one of her books that he seemed quite interested in. Shippou was napping on the side of Kagome's lap and across from them was Sango petting Kirara looking out the door; Miroku presumed she was looking at the sky.
He smiled while he watched her as she absent mindedly pet Kirara. She was so beautiful, so peaceful, so…she was amazing. Anything he could ever want. And she was his, and he was hers.
She glanced over to him and blushed while she stared at the ground very hard. He grinned, and flipped his book to the beginning; he would find the perfect word for her.
By the time he had found the word, everyone had fallen asleep and there were only embers in the fire. He pushed himself off of the ground and walked over to Sango silently and sat next to her. He knew she was awake, he could see her eyelids fluttering as she pretended to be sleeping.
He placed the book in her lap, "I know that you are awake," he whispered in her ear. She looked up to him and blushed; he loved her blush.
He pointed to the open book in her lap to a word, "This was the one word that explains you perfectly in my eyes."
He smiled humbly as she read the small print.
Divine- 1. Supremely good or beautiful; magnificent
He didn't have to see her smile, her blush or her tears. When she leaned her head back on his chest and held his hand gently; he knew she had read it.
And at that moment, he was the happiest man in the world. He felt like a God, sitting there with his divine Goddess, and nothing could bring them apart.
