Five years later and the Third had finally managed to find a way to break out of the Sakurami City prison.

It wasn't easy, especially with Hirasaka Yomotsu visiting him daily and the city's increased security due to his constant campaigning and rallying. After capturing the serial killer that had terrorized the streets of Sakurami for months, the Twelfth was seen as a true hero of justice instead of an outcast. He had received countless rewards and was even offered the chance to move into the city, which he politely declined. He had told Hiyama during his time in prison that the cacophony of the city hurt his sensitive ears, and that, despite everything, he had grown quite attached to his old log cabin on the outskirts of the city.

Basically, that slightly insane, self-proclaimed sentai was the cause of all his problems. Naturally, he would be Hiyama's first target.

For Christ's sakes, why didn't that idiot just open the damn door?

Or break it down, or slash it in half, or even enter through the window. However the serial-killing math teacher chose to go about it, Yomotsu would've been happy. The possibility of Hiyama breaking into his house didn't scare him one bit—no, Yomotsu was confident that his physical strength would be enough to take him down like the last time if the situation turned serious. Nevertheless, he didn't want to think that the companionship they had developed over the last few years was all for naught.

What was really bothering Yomotsu was the killing intent practically rolling off in waves from outside his window. It was an immoral feeling that clutched at his very soul and twisted his insides uncomfortably. Not to mention that it was the middle of winter and Hiyama had been crouched behind that bush for hours.

The thing is, Yomotsu simply couldn't fall asleep with such an ominous presence nearby. After tossing and turning for a couple minutes, he finally shot out of bed and decided to confront the man himself.

Yomotsu made a big show of flinging the door open.

"Goodness, it's freezing out here!" the Twelfth exclaimed. "But at least I have a certain someone's killing intent warming up the entire house."

Yomotsu heard a rustle in the bushes as Hiyama presumably left his hiding place.

"So you knew this entire time?"

Yomotsu rolled his eyes. "I'm blind, not deaf. How you managed to become a successful serial killer with those noisy stalking techniques is beyond me."

"When did you realize?"

"Starting from when I headed into the convenience store. You waited outside in an alley until I came out, and then I heard you tail me all the way back to my cabin."

Holy Deus. This guy's senses were sharpened to the point that even Hiyama found it slightly terrifying.

"And then," Yomotsu continued, "instead of stabbing me right then and there, you decided to hide in the yard for hours."

Again, he was right.

"I couldn't even go to sleep with all the killing intent you were giving off!"

Hiyama suppressed a chuckle. "Don't tell me that's what you're mad about."

"Next time you plan on visiting, just knock on the door."

To his own surprise, Hiyama had to resist the urge to smile.
