A/N: A bit of angst for my friend, Steppes. Knowing her, it might not be angsty enough but I tried. I just prefer fluff.

Quiet eyes watch the loud boy from afar as he trains with his team mates. He yells at the sullen boy who beat him so easily and dotes on the cheerful girl who only has eyes for the sullen boy. That hurts her the most.

She must rinse this all away
she can't hold him this way
she must rinse this all away
she can't love him this way

The shy girl peeks out from behind the fence where she hid. The loud boy is eating ramen and gesturing wildly to his teacher who sits beside him. Oh how she wishs that she could be the one to sit beside him and laugh at his bad impersonations of the Third Hokage.

How she'd be soothed, how she'd be saved if he could see
she needs to be held in his arms to be free
but everything happens for reasons that she will never understand
'til she knows the heart of a woman will never be found in the arms of a man

The loud boy is crying silently. All around them were people dressed in black, like mourning birds. She wears white, like the rest of her clan. The loud boy asks her why, was she being disrespectful to the Hokage? She responds with a squeak that no, she wore white because death also brought new beginnings as well as old endings. The loud boy gives her a strange look and she feels her face heat up. He smiles through his tears and thanks her, says that he'd never thought of it like that.

And if she runs away she fears she won't be followed
what could be the worse than leaving something behind
and as the depth of oceans slowly become shallow
it's loneliness she finds...
if only he was mine

The loud boy is back at the ramen stand. He's eating with the cheerful girl this time and she's laughing. She wipes a bit of ramen from his cheek and kisses the spot where it lay. He blushes and kisses her cheek back. The quiet girl feels her heart shatter. She turns and leaves, vowing to over come her love for the loud boy.

She'd do anything to sparkle in his eye
she would suffer, she would fight, and compromise
she's been wishin' on the stars that shine so bright
for answers to the questions that will haunt her tonight

The loud man is standing at a grave site with tears in his eyes. The cheerful woman watches him and holds out her hand. He takes it sadly and they leave. The cheerful woman is now sad. She knows that he could never feel the same for her as he did for the dead woman. It was just sad that he didn't realise what he felt until it was too late.

She must rinse him
she must rinse him

she can't rinse him
she can't rinse him
she can't, she won't, she must rinse him
she can't, she won't, she must rinse him
she must rinse this all away
she can't hold him this way
she must rinse this all away
she can't love him this way

He says goodbye and then he's gone. The loud man leaves, unknowingly taking the spirit of the quiet woman with him and leaving behind his heart. From somewhere else the quiet woman is sad. She broke his heart with her silence but he got to keep the cheerful girl. The girl that wouldn't hold him back. The girl that was stronger then Hyuuga Hinata ever could be.

A/N: People, before you get all 'Hinata would never kill herself' on me, she didn't. She died in a mission as a Jounin (Hence the change from boy to man, girl to woman etc.), I just wanted to emphasise on the aftermath of her death and I was running out of verses.
