Jeff Hardy pulled his wife, Caria, closer to him in the darkness of their bedroom. "We're gonna be okay."
Caria nodded. He meant that the Draft might separate them. She heard his words, and she believed them, but a part of her was still fearful. What would it mean if they were on different shows? What if one of them stayed on Raw while the other moved to ECW or Smackdown!? Or worse, what if one of them got fired? What if one contract was up, and Vince decided he didn't want to renew it? What if...what if she got left at home while Jeff continued his travels?
Caria couldn't bear the thought of being left alone by the only person in her life that really meant anything to her. If she couldn't travel with him...she didn't know what she'd do. It wouldn't be right. It wouldn't be fair. Jeff and she couldn't and wouldn't be separated. Not if Caria could help it.
"Yeah..." She answered quietly.
Jeff turned to look down at her. "You don't sound convinced. Care-bear, we're gonna be okay, okay?"
Caria nodded, still feeling her doubts. 'I hate this. Why do we have to do a draft?! I don't want to leave Jeffy. I want to stay on Raw, I want him on Raw.'
"Caria? Come on, hon. This'll turn out fine. Don't worry. Even if we can't...stay on the same show...we can still see each other when we're not on TV. I love you and nothing will change that."
Caria forced a smile. Inside, she was not so confident. "I love you, too, Jeff."
Jeff let a look of relief cross his handsome face. "Good. So you believe me?"
"Yeah." Caria felt horrible for lying like this, but she didn't want him worrying about her. "We're gonna be okay." 'I hope' she added silently to herself.
Jeff fell asleep not too long after. Caria was having trouble. No matter how tired she was, she just couldn't fall asleep. Her mind continued to wonder, full of doubts and 'What if...?'s. It seemed like sleep would never come.
The very next morning, Caria awoke in the same loving arms that she had fallen asleep in. And at the point that the first rays of sunshine shown brightly on Jeff's peaceful face, she realized he was right.
They were going to be okay.
