Drabble #24: Thoughts

He really couldn't have made it more obvious. He stared at her quite openly after all and the smirks he got from Yuffie, Cid and Barret was enough to prove that he wasn't being discreet.
But he couldn't help it. She was so beautiful and kind. She was…perfect. She was the first woman he had ever felt so strongly about. He had suffered from crushes before, like everyone else, but Aeris was the first woman he had ever loved.
Even during the night he couldn't escape her, almost always dreaming of her sweet smile and sparkling eyes. He would not have been surprised if she was an angel sent from the Planet. He blushed at how corny his thoughts were and immediately shook them out of his mind.
He could not say it surprised him though; nearly every thought led to Aeris some way or another. Flowers, Churches, Planet, life, love, beauty were just some of the words that immediately caused an image of the woman to flutter before his eyes.
He had often thought about asking for the date she promised but she wasn't sure whether she was joking with him or not and was too scared of rejection to actually step up and do the deed.
Instead, he settled for thoughts of what would happen if he did have the courage to ask her out. He would think of how one day, they could be married, with a child or two. They would live in a large house with a large garden for the children, cats, and dogs to play in.
So, while he felt too frightened to tell her how he felt, at least his thoughts gave him that tiny bit of happiness.
