A Christmas present for those who want it :) I don't own four brothers.
Walking along the dark street she gazed around her. Anyone else would have been scared. This was the kind of streets that grown men avoided walking on alone. But this was no ordinary woman. Arriving at the right door she didn't hesitate before knocking hard. When no one answered she knocked again and waited. Sure enough the door opened to reveal a big looking man. She gazed at him while he couldn't hide his surprise at seeing her there.
"I'm looking for Bobby Mercer"
The man didn't answer, just stood there and Evelyn grew more annoyed.
"Didn't you hear me young man? I said I'm looking for Bobby Mercer. Do you mind?"
She gestured at the door, and not knowing what else to do he stood aside and let her pass. She walked with determined steps to what she assumed passed for the livingroom, though it was kind of hard to tell. But her instincts had been right because sure enough there he was, sitting on the couch drinking what she hoped was only beer. He looked up as she entered, a contrite look on his face.
"Your late"
At her words he stood up, only she noticing the defiant look on his face.
"What are you doing here?" He spoke
"Looking for you"
She could see the hesitation on his face, no one wanted to be brought home by his mother. Even if he didn't call her that yet. But he knew as well as she did what kind of street this was, and she could tell he didn't want her walking home alone. She had counted on that. He sighed and started gathering his things, ignoring the looks his friends shot him. They walked out and Evelyn smiled at the young man who had opened the door.
As they started walking down the street she spoke again.
"I need your help"
That caught his attention, as she had never asked for anything since he had arrived.
"There's a boy arriving in a few days, his name is Jeremiah..."
Just a short little something.
