It was a cold winter's eve. Lil' D and Kim were sitting near the fireplace, drinking some hot chocolate. There was an uncomfortable silence that fell over them. It stayed so silent until Lil'D spoke.
"Remember when we first met... was it fall or winter?"
"Yeah. It was winter." Kim said, smiling beneath the rim of her cup.
Flashback
An eight year old boy's voice came cutting through the air. Lil'D was his name.
"Hey! No fair, man!! I ain't ready!!" he said as he was hit by a snowball several times.
"LIL'D!! Look out!" Lil'D's friend came running towards the boy.
"Ah!" a girlish yelp was heard as Lil'D bumped into a girl about his age.
"Sorry, ma'am," he said apologetically as he stood up and took out his hand to help the girl up.
"You better watch where you're going next time!" an eight year old girl with kinky black eyes told off. She had a short jet black hair and a lighter complexion than any body else. She grabbed his hands and dusted off her clothes.
"Uuh... sorry, I'm Lil'D. What's your name?" he asked.
The girl opened her mouth to reply back but a voice came screaming; calling out her name. She looked back at the voice and swerved her head to the young boy.
"Well, gotta go," the girl said. "Sorry to cut this chat short though. Bye!" She ran towards the direction which the voice originated from.
With his mouth agaped, he watched the girl go. He never really did know her name...
End Flashback
Lil'D's face scrunched up, as if he was reminiscing something that he forgot. "Who was calling you then?" he asked, glancing at the girl beside him.
Kim just shrugged, still having that smile plastered on her face. "Oh, it was Kam," she stated simply, still smiling.
A few seconds ticked by; the night was getting deeper. Kim scrunched up to the fireplace and held her hands out as she was shivering.
"Brrrr... it's getting really cold, isn't it?" Kim asked, waiting for her companion to reply. When she got no word from him, her heart was flooded with worry. But just as she was to call out for him again, a hand wrapped around her. She looked to where the hand came from, and to her surprise, it lead to Lil'D, who was smiling while staring at the warm fire.
She just smiled. "Thanks," Kim said.
"No problem," Lil'D replied and planted a small kiss on her cheek. Kim's cheek reddened. She just stared blankly into space for a moment, thinking.
Did he really do that? she thought and looked at him again. Lil'D just shot her a smile. Kim couldn't help but smile too.
And this all happened...
