Déjà Vu

Two sets of eyes went wide as they took in the sight before them. It was a simple coin being tossed in the air but something felt oddly familiar about it. As the round coin flipped through the air, the two people watching saw it take on an octagonal shape. They looked away and straight into the eyes of the other. Blue eyes bore into grey as they realised they were experiencing the same sense of déjà vu. But that couldn't be possible, they'd only met a few weeks earlier. There was no past event that could match this one. Even so, neither could shake the feeling that they'd done this before.

"Heads or tails?"

Two head whipped around as the voice broke their focus and they stared in confusion for a moment.

"Huh?" Mitchell finally asked.

"Heads or tails, call it." Daniel waited impatiently, wanting to get this over with. Mitchell and Vala had been arguing for the last ten minutes and he'd grown weary of it. Vala claimed to know this planet and its people and thought she should lead the expedition. Mitchell reminded her of the last time she'd said that and what happened then. He told her he was in charge and that they would do it his way. Finally they'd asked Daniel's opinion. Not wanting to get involved, the archaeologist came up with the coin toss idea. It had seemed simple enough at the time. Now they both looked at him as if they'd forgotten not only what the argument was about but that they'd been fighting at all. Daniel huffed out a sigh as he watched them both visibly shake themselves out of...whatever held them.

"Never mind, Jackson." Mitchell told him as he started walking away. "We'll go with Vala's idea."

"No." Vala piped up and jogged to walk beside Mitchell. "You're the leader, we'll go with yours."

"And as the leader I said we'll do it your way." Mitchell argued back.

"No, no, that's quite all right. We should definitely go with yours. It's a good plan."

"Listen, Princess..."

Daniel stood in shock as the two walked away and their voices began to fade. What the hell just happened? He shook his head and looked at Teal'c, who wore an almost amused smirk on his face.

"They're both crazy." Daniel muttered.

"Indeed." Teal'c answered and the two men followed after their still arguing teammates.

The End
