Unequal Exchange
June 21, 1916
It's been about three months since brother had been in this state. I'm not exactly sure what he gave up to put him in this state, but it was for me. It's not fair. I got my body back, but he still has automail. He gets my soul to stop rejecting my body, but he ends up in that state. He's alive, I know that much for sure, but other than that he's pretty much lifeless. He eats if I feed him, but that's it. Even his eyes show no signs of life, and that's the worst part of it. I can't stand to see my brother like this, he given up so much for me, so I'm going to give what I can so he won't be like this.
Al sighed and closed his journal. He was in Ed's room at his desk. He looked over at his brother who was sitting up in the chair in the corner expressionless as always.
"Brother...if I knew what you gave up..."
He sighed again.
"I know you wouldn't want me to do this, but I promised I would get you back to normal"
"Al...I swore.....I would restore your body...."
His brother's words echoed in his mind.
"Just as you did for me"
That night he went to the shed and a large transmutation circle on the floor.
"It's the same circle that brother used to get my body back permanently, it should work"
He sighed and placed his hands on the circle.
"This is for you brother"
Ed sat there in the circle. He seemed lifeless, in truth it was that way, but he still had his soul. He could see and hear everything around him, but he couldn't respond. When he saw what Al was going to do, he wanted to stop him, but he couldn't.
"No! AL don't do this!"
But Al couldn't hear him, because he couldn't actually speak. It was only in his mind.
"Alphonse no"
All his will power, and he couldn't do a thing. But then unexpectedly he did.
"YOU IDIOT!"
Al, startled looked up immediately. His brother grabbed him by his shirt collar and pulled him close.
"Don't you EVER, try anything like that again!"
But Al barely heard what he said.
"Brother!"
He instantly hugged/glomped Ed, and even cried a little.
"You're back brother!"
Then he looked down* at him.
"But how?"
"I'm not sure, but I just snapped out of it"
The truth was Al didn't even care how it happened, even if in the end it was Unequal Exchange.
Author's Notes
Yeah this just sort of came to me so I typed it down. I have played Bluebird's Illusion so I do know what I'm talking about here. I hope you guys like it, and I accept anything but flames.
* Al's taller than Ed, so he would have to look down, not up.
And as for the date at the beginning, it says it's Spring at the end of the game and Al's 16, so I just went from there.
