This missing scene takes place at the end of Tangent. Jack and Teal'c have just been rescued by Sam, Jackson and Jacob from certain death. They're heading back to Earth in Jacob's cargo ship. Fluff again!

Comfort

"Sam", Jack was still at the commands of the ship. "It's been a long day. Selmak is saying he'll take over from now on so I can rest a few hours. You'd better all do the same."

"Yes, Dad. As soon as we've warmed them. Don't worry: we'll take good care of them."

Jacob closed his eyes and almost immediately opened them again. "I'm glad we've rescued them, Major Carter", Selmak's altered voice told her. "But they look exhausted. I hope they've not suffered too much from the cold and lack of oxygen."

"I checked their vitals," she replied with a concerned look. "Teal'c's kelno'reem probably helped him but I'm seriously worried about Colonel O'Neill. He seemed better when we got him back on the ship than now. I've covered him and Teal'c with all the blankets we had and Daniel gave him his jacket but he's still shivering. On top of that, he doesn't seem very coherent."

"Did you try to feed him?"

"Yes, but he's worn out and he's got loads of trouble concentrating, it's like feeding a sick child."

"Major, you must keep trying. Daniel Jackson is taking good care of Teal'c so you can concentrate on O'Neill. If you want his body temperature to reach normal levels, blankets or even food won't be enough. Your own body temperature will probably be much more efficient", he pointed out, making her blush instantly.

"Selmak, you can't be suggesting...?!", she exclaimed, her eyes meeting his.

"Of course, I am, Major. He needs it", he replied, turning back to face the horizon, indicating he had spoken and given his opinion. She now needed to make her own decisions.

She stepped towards Jack sitting on the floor at the back of the cargo ship, propped up against the wall. He raised his head to look at her and she could see his eyes were not focusing. She reached for him and touched his cheek, testing his temperature: not good... he was still freezing.

"Colonel", she whispered, squatting next to him. "How are you doing?"

He gazed at her and gave her a poor smile:"I'm kind of cold, Carter. What time do we arrive for our vacations in Hawaï?," he tried to banter, shivers suddenly shaking his body.

She made her decision: she sat next to him and putting her arm around his shoulder, she pulled him to her and readjusted the blankets to cover him. He sighed with relief and cuddled against her, spelling out his words with difficulty: "I'm not sure you should do that with your CO, Carter... Isn't there something in the regs against it?"

"Sir, right now, I'm not Carter. I'm your blanket", she teased, trying to ease her embarrassment as she started rubbing his hands with hers to warm him. He took hold of it, raised his head and looked her in the eyes: "Well, Carter, you're the most gorgeous blanket I've ever seen." And putting back his head on her shoulder, he added, as he started drifting off to sleep: "I love you, Sam..." and then closed his eyes, a smile on his face.

In a matter of seconds, he was fast asleep: his body relaxed and his temperature was obviously starting to rise.

Sam was so amazed she'd not heard Selmak approach: he was standing next to her, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. She looked at him in alarm.

"Your father doesn't need to know that, Major Carter", he reassured her, "though if he knew, I'm sure he'd agree with me you could do much worse..."

As he turned to head back to his seat and left her wondering about what had just happened between her and her CO, she would have sworn she'd heard him chuckling.
