Author's Notes:This literally came to me in a dream. I'm not joking. Lily is in her fifth year, and it's about oh...the week before valentine's day? in this...Hope you like it, read and review, all that stuff.this will(hopefully) be at least 5 chapters long, and be finished before summer ends. I'd be surprised if I actually met that limit, however...

Disclaimer: I wish it weren't so, but I do not own Harry Potter, Hogwarts, or anything pertaining to this story except the plot and maybe a couple of secret passageways.sigh

Summary: After a harsh breakup, a mystery man steals Lily's heart...a hidden side of a familiar face.

Secret Passageways

Chapter 1: Hiding in Shadow

Lily ran down the hall, pulled the painting aside, and rushed down the spiral staircase until she was out of earshot of the Great Hall. She collapsed, and broke into sobs. How could he just, out of nowhere, say "It's over" ,as if they'd both been expecting it for weeks? After four and a half months, he just walks away. She was so caught up in her tears, she didn't notice the painting swinging closed at the top of the dark staircase, or the soft footsteps coming down behind her.

"It's not your fault." a voice said from a few steps back." he's a jerk, and you shouldn't mess yourself up over him. He's already hitting on that Elisabeth Belby girl. Forget him."she opened her eyes, tears streaming down her face.

"Who are you?" she asked.

There was an uncomfortable cough from behind her."that's not important. Hold still" his voice was self assured, familiar...but she couldn't figure out who he was... while she was thinking, he slipped down the staircase, and kneeled on the step below her. she looked him in the face, but the secret passageways are dark, and she could only see his eyes, grey, with little flecks of some other color on them. He put his hand over her eyes, and before she realized what he was doing, he leaned forward and kissed her, like in her dreams, long and slow. in a whirl of air, she heard footsteps, and he was out of sight. by the time she made it to the bottom, and looked out of the painting at the foot of the stairs, she saw a flash of blond hair go around a corner, and the dungeon corridor was empty.
