A/N: So….yet another Clive/Flora fanfic to add to this growing collection….I hope you enjoy it! :) I am sorry for the lack of a realistic prison description…I've never been inside one, so, er, yeah. XD

I had to re-uplpoad this again, because it was having problems. Is anyone else having this issue or just me?

Disclaimer: I do not own Professor Layton or anything else associated with it.

"Professor," Flora said, laying her knife and fork aside, "I would like to visit Clive."

Luke coughed. Flora knew he was still coming to terms with the whole Clive affair, and the Professor was grieving over someone he'd loved. She had been meaning to bring this up for a while.

"Flora, are you quite sure?" The professor sounded concerned. "Clive is, after all, a criminal."

"Yes," Flora said firmly, "I just want an apology."

"For kidnapping you, I presume?"

"Yes."

Flora couldn't help but feel nervous as she sat in the back of the Layton-mobile. Luke had gone to school, he decided that he didn't want to face Clive, not yet. Flora was going alone, with Layton.

The Layton-mobile stopped outside the prison. It was a tall, grim red brick building, not appealing at all. She hoped Clive wasn't too unhappy there.

They entered the building. Behind the front desk stood a grim looking man, who asked what their business was. Flora thought he was rather rude.

"We are here to see a Mr Clive Dove," the Professor told the man.

The man behind the desk nodded "Third cell on the left."

Flora began to walk uncertainly towards the left, her black boots clicking in the eerily silent corridor. Halfway down she looked back at the Professor. "Aren't you coming?" She whispered, as her voice resounded off the bare walls.

The Professor shook his head. Flora didn't blame him; she knew Clive would only remind him of Claire. "I'll stay here," He called, "You will be alright, won't you?"

Flora nodded, but she hope she looked a lot more confident than she felt.

She reached the cell, and there he was. He sat in the corner of the dirty room, he head in his hands. He didn't look up when she arrived, he barely even responded.

"Clive…." Flora's mouth was dry.

He looked up. He brown eyes were red and bloodshot, as though he'd been crying for a long period of time. "Flora…" he managed to choke out.

He had changed out Luke's blue getup, and was wearing a white T-shirt and a pair of Jeans. His hair didn't look as though it had been combed in a while. It broke Flora's heart to see him like this.

He walked over to the entrance, so that there was only a row of iron bars between them. "What are you doing here?"

"I-I came to talk to you," Flora replied. "How are you?"

He let out a bitter forced laugh. "Never better," he said sarcastically.

He leant his head against the bars, his head bowed. It then occurred to Flora how close they both were, only the bars between them…..She could feel his warm breath on here face.

Flora grabbed his hand, interlocking her fingers with his. He looked up, surprised, but said nothing.

They both stood like that for a long time, listening to the sound of each other's breathing.

"Flora, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for kidnapping you."

"I-I forgive you, Clive."

Silence. They stood for a few moments more.

"Flora!" She heard the professor calling her from the main entrance, "Flora!"

"I- I must go now, Clive. Maybe, I'll come back."

She turned, walking down the corridor, trying to blink tears out of her eyes.

That was the last time they ever saw each other.

Clive watched her all the way down. As she turned the corner, Clive uttered two words, though Flora never heard them. "….My Flower."
