The sky was dark, large rainclouds threatened to break and unleash the large amount water stored inside them. Keori the Huntress crouched in the shadows of nearby tree, stalking her oblivious prey. A bird, large and majestic, with talons as sharp as razors and stronger than adamantium, his rusty brown head with faint white markings on his graceful face make all who look upon him stare with awe.

A roar of thunder was heard in the distance, making Keori nervous. This thunder might spook the bird, it's now or never, Keori thought.

Shaking out her gorgeous chestnut locks, she raised up her enchanted bow. Given to her by a neighboring city for defending the city from a bandit raid, Keori was a renowned warrior throughout the world. Her excellent aim was rivaled by no one and her graceful speed and quick thinking made Keori an opponent unmatched by anyone.

Focusing on the target, Keori let out a breath she did not know she was holding. Concentrating on her prey, she aimed right for the heart. She let go of the arrow and it hit the target straight on. The bird squawked and flapped its wings in an attempt to steady itself in the tree, but fell out of the tree moment later, plummeting to the ground.

Yes! Thought Keori, as she ran over to collect her trophy.

Approaching the location she thought her prey fell, she was shocked to see the bird was not there. Suddenly, there was movement in the bushes next to her. Using her lightning fast reflexes, Keori back flipped onto the branch of a tree. The bird emerged from the bushes, angry from being wounded and determined to get revenge.

Shoot, thought Keori. I knew this was going to be a tough fight, but I thought I could catch it by surprise.

The bird lunged at Keori and narrowly missed pecking her arm. Jumping of the branch, Keori twisted around in the air and landed gracefully on the ground. Unsheathing her sword she ran at the bird. Swinging at the bird, she aimed for the birds left wing. The blade hit nothing but air as the bird flew out of the way before it was too late. Swinging at the bird left Keori let her defenses open for a split second, and her opponent took advantage of this. Raising its large talons, he sliced open Keori's arm, rendering it useless.

"AH!" Yelled Keori dropping to the ground. She kneeled there, cradling her injured arm, looking up as her prey turned predator bared down on her for a final blow.

This is the end, thought Keori hopelessly.

Just then a gunshot rang through the air. Keori watched hazily as the bird that was to end her life fell dead inches from her feet. Her vision going blurry from her loss of blood Keori felt herself becoming dizzy. Keori felt herself slump over towards the ground. At the last second before she hit the ground, strong arms wrapped around her and picked her up. Turning her head to look at her savior she was met with a silver avian face that was painted with faded blue markings woven with scars she could only guess were from life threatening battles.

As Keori began to drift off into the darkness in the arms of the mysterious man, she felt safer than ever, and knew there would be one less bird to worry about.
