Hope Is
Not Lost
Disclaimer: Been awhile since I did anything Gotham related and I've had this idea in mind awhile now. And with all the recent promo (at the time as its been sometime since I started this) for season 5, I thought now was a good time for something like this. Though in this, Lee never lost the baby, nor did she and Mario ever return to Gotham. Absolute mayhem did still manage to happen though where the Virus is concerned and Jim and Valerie lasted a lot longer then in canon. Jeremiah has yet to go bad as well but Jerome did steal his generators to plunge Gotham into Hell.
No one was expecting it that day, least of all the Government. And if the Government especially had any kind of warning, they would have ensured it wouldn't have happened to begin with. But alas, it did thanks to the combined efforts of Bruce Wayne, Jeremiah Velaska, and Lucius Fox. Efforts that allowed Captain James 'Jim' Gordon to reach out to the outside world to deliver a message. "My name is James Gordon and I'm a Captain of the GCPD. If you are watching this, its thanks to the efforts of a few friends. As you may know, Gotham fell into darkness six months ago when Jerome Velaska turned inventions meant to help into weapons capable of great mayhem." Began the man as he stood on top of the GCPD building near the light he had been turning on to help inspire hope within the city for those who needed it.
Many were surprised by the man's appearance and the wrecked look of the city of Gotham itself as the camera showed the city. "We've since done all we can to combat this darkness despite limited supplies to do so." Continued Jim.
Lee's heart clenched painfully for the weariness in his voice while Mario was gladdened that they had never returned to that festering Hell hole. Though knew that if his father was still alive, the old man would be heart broken by what had befallen his beloved city. Silver St. Cloud from where she was in her part of the world found herself worrying more so for Bruce then she did the Captain and hoped he was doing well. Possibly even being far away from the mess that had become Gotham. Alas, this was not meant to be as Bruce himself appeared on the camera next to the Captain. "And though we fight against those who would use the city's current problems to their own ends, hope is not lost here." Bruce said passionately as Jim squeezed his shoulder.
Jim continued on from there as a certain group of youths Bruce had taken to spending time with after Ra's first death were shocked that he was putting himself at such a risk. Grace especially wanted to have a word with her kind of sort of boyfriend and resolved to do so in some manner. "We implore the outside world to give us help but even if it doesn't, we will continue to fight for this city. As like my friend here said, all hope is not lost. Nor will it ever be so long as we continue to fight to bring back order and a sense of stability to Gotham once again."
And with that, the feed was shut off and thankfully, their words managed to stir many to action. Including the likes of Lee, Mario, and Silver. The government hadn't been too happy about this turn of events but they would help. If only so that the public wouldn't fully turn against them.
Author's Notes: I'll leave what follows to anyone else's imagination. Kinda not happy with this and I wish I had gotten this finished before the current season had aired but alas, oh wells!
