"Who's our client?" Lucy asked Erza as she tried to ignore the moans coming from the floor, more specifically Natsu. Troia still didn't work on him most of the time and Erza hadn't bothered to knock him out for the brief train ride.
"Some rich man in town. The paper didn't say." Gray responded casually from where he sat next to Erza.
"Isn't that kind of dangerous?" Wendy piped up. Carla was curled up in her lap trying to take a nap.
"Aye but we're wizards!" Happy said confidently from where he was hovering around Natsu.
"Some of us are." Lucy murmured under her breath but before Happy could confront her the train stilled. Immediately Natsu was up and dancing around. He hopped out the window and Happy followed. The sound of railroad officials yelling for him to stop made Lucy smile whilst shaking her head.
"He never learns." Lucy sighed as she calmly stood up and waited for everyone else to exit. After they did she trailed behind them and they located the house with ease. Erza knocked harshly on the wood twice as the group waited.
"Let's hope he's not the boogeyman." Lucy turned around to make a fake scary face at Wendy, which made the younger girl giggle. At the sound of a door creaking open Lucy turned back around. The smiled faded from her face and her posture corrected itself immediately. The man, slightly older then Lucy, didn't seem to notice her until he invited them all inside. He brought out tea and sat them down on plush leather couches.
"Lucy Heartfillia is that you?" the man, who had introduced himself as Charles Wellington, said with a faked polite tone. Lucy knew it well. If he wanted to play the heir game with her then she'd play along. Straightening herself once more and putting on a fake easy smile she began to speak.
"It is Charles." Lucy affirmed with an easy tone. Her guildmates looked on in confusion as they started to banter.
"How has life in a guild been?" Charles asked disinterestedly.
"Charming. Much more interesting than pretending to like people. You understand, no?" Lucy remarked as she took a sip of tea.
"Of course I do. You've changed your look quite a bit since the last time I saw you." Charles said as he grimaced at her skirt and crop top.
"You haven't changed. Not even your outfit. Have the trends really been that steady?" Lucy said in a snarky tone.
"Some looks are just timeless." Charles said quietly. One point to Lucy.
"I can understand that. So tell me how your father?" Lucy had to restrain a smirk when she saw Charles scowl. Instead she went for a mock sympathetic look. "Oh so he still limits your cash flow?" Lucy said. In the background Lucy heard one of her friends snort in amusement but she couldn't lose the staring contest.
"He's the same as always. I would ask about your father but well… I actually went to his funeral- which makes one of us." Charles said snidely but his face still seemed friendly. It was a trick every rich person knew. Ignoring the hurtful comment Lucy continued.
"My well you know what they say. Those who never cared for one's life care the most for one's death." Lucy drained her tea cup quickly and hardened her eyes.
"Now what about that mission?"
