Title- All About Us
Author- Victoria
Rating- PG
Summary- Just a little Future Pemma fluff in honor of Valentine's Day. Short and sweet and just a bit (okay, a lot) sappy.

A/N- I was rewatching Ink and Hysterical Blindness and it reminded me of just why I love Pemma so much. They're freaking adorable! Seriously, I defy ANYONE not to have a secret soft spot for Pemma! Cutest ship known to man.

Emma had hated Valentine's Day for as long as she could remember. Somehow, she always ended up spending the day alone; usually, even her family were unable to take time to drop in for a visit. Today was no exception. For many years, she'd managed to convince herself that it didn't matter. It was a Hallmark holiday, and it didn't really mean anything. But this year, she had gotten her hopes up that she would finally figure out why so many people loved it, because this year, she actually had someone to spend the day with.

Or rather, she was supposed to have had someone. Peter Petrelli, her boyfriend of almost a year, was conspicuously absent. They had been planning on spending the whole day together, but as luck would have it, he'd been called in to work at the last minute. And Peter, being Peter, had been unable to refuse. She didn't begrudge him that, because saving lives was more important than some stupid greeting card holiday. Still, though, Emma found that she'd actually been looking forward to it despite herself. Now that she was deprived of it, she was unexpectedly disappointed.

And that was how she found herself, at seven o'clock at night on Valentine's Day, sitting alone on the couch in her apartment with a tub of ice cream and watching The Matrix with the captions on. Emma was thoroughly disgusted with herself.

Eventually, she decided that attempting to eat an entire tub of Chunky Monkey by herself was incredibly unhealthy, and got up to go put the ice cream away. Then she returned to the living room, wrapped herself up in an afghan, and allowed herself to be distracted by the troubles of fictional characters.

The movie was almost halfway over when she felt a pair of arms encircle her from behind. Almost immediately, her bad mood melted away and she twisted around to receive a kiss from her boyfriend.

"Hi," she said when he pulled away. "I thought you weren't getting off until midnight?"

Peter smiled at her. "I pulled a couple of favors, Jack's covering for me the rest of the night. I didn't want to leave you alone all night."

He sat down next to her and put an arm around her waist. Immediately, she scooted closer to him, leaning her head against his shoulder. She loved this, loved how they just seemed to fit together like puzzle pieces. He kissed the top of her head and she smiled to herself.

"I got you something," he said eventually. "To make up for being late."

"You didn't have to--" she protested, but he cut her off, handing her a small blue box. Inside, Emma found a beautiful silver bracelet, very simple but well-made. She looked up at him happily. "Thank you, Peter." She leaned in to kiss him softly.

When she finally relinquished his lips, he was looking at her with that expression he reserved just for her, the one that never failed to take her breath away and make her feel like she was the most important part of his world. "I love you," he said, signing it at the same time. Her stomach flipped and her heart missed a beat, the way it had every time he told her that.

"Love you, too," she assured him, kissing him again. Then she leaned her head on his shoulder once again and settled in to watch the rest of the movie with him.

No, it wasn't a traditional Valentine's Day, but Emma decided then and there that maybe this was one contrived holiday that wasn't so bad after all.
