I twirl around in Rose's arms, and even in the heat of battle, I feel free. Free like I've never felt her against me before. She closes her eyes, and I can only hope she feels the same. I feel us merging, and soon we are one body, Rainbow Quartz. We hear each other's thoughts, so I quiet mine and search for signs of interest in her's as we wield our sword, slicing through enemies. She is focused, determined. As for me, I'm trying my best. But after thousands of years, she has to know. But I won't give up.

When the battle is over, we walk back silently. Merging is intimate, sometimes awkward. It's like this, but Rose doesn't seem to mind. Once we are back, Rose decides to spilt, and we are two again. I am relived, but feel somewhat alone. Or maybe not.

"Garnet!" Amethyst yells. I wince at her loud voice, but I roll my eyes and try to ignore her. "Let's get some donuts!" I roll my eyes, but Garnet doesn't seem to mind.

She shrugs. "Okay." They walk out. I go to my room in an attempt to clear my head. As I open the door. I hear Rose.

"Wait," she says, walking up to me. I turn around to face her, hoping she doesn't notice how red my cheeks are turning.

"Oh hi!" I stammer, laughing nervously. She keeps a straight face.

"Can I talk to you for a minute?"

"Of course, I step aside, and rose walks in. We sit on the edge of the fountain.

"You seem nervous, is everything okay?" She has a concerned, naive expression, the one I love. I manage to keep it together

"I-" I go red, then look away. "I'm fine. It's nothing. You – you wouldn't believe me if I told you."

"It's okay. Tell me."

"I… I love you!" Rose's eyes widen. I feel like I'm going to die, but I keep at it. "I know you don't like me but… I've never stopped feeling for you."

"Oh, I… I never knew." I look down, feeling embarrassed, before I feel Rose's lips on mine. I am shocked, beyond shocked, but I return the kiss, lightly at first, but as time passes, I find myself making up for years of hopelessness and wondering and lonely love. We are passionately making out before I realise it, and I can barely hear Amethyst asking where we are. I climb on top of her and and push down her strapless dress, grabbing her breasts. Everything is beyond my wildest dreams, and I can't believe myself.

"Pearl," says Rose, sitting up. "I'm sorry, but..." Did I do something wrong? I sweat nervously. "Pearl, I'm in love with Greg." Greg? That dipshit with the guitar? She pulls her top back up and walks back to the door, before facing me.

"I'm sorry. I hope this doesn't affect our friendship." She smiles weakly.

"Yeah, I'm sorry too."
