She had to give him props. He was a good actor, after all he'd seemed so sincere. But, she can't be fooled. No way, no how.
Thankfully, she was used to dealing with "men" like this. Dark, tall, and handsome. The kind of guy who always seemed to be thinking about something and, if you asked what about, he'd merely grunt in response. That is, if he decided to acknowledge the fact that you spoke to him, or that you even exist.
The kind of guy you see being chased by mobs of women and young girls alike. Though, he'd never pay them any attention nor give them the time of day.
Uchiha Sasuke was the kind of guy that could have just about any female, and perhaps male, do anything for even a chance to be seen with him.
Yeah, he was definitely that kind of guy.
"Hey?" He asked irritably, "You gonna answer me?"
"Your joking, right?" He raised his brow at her, "You have got to be joking."
"Tenten, why would I-"
"You are Uchiha Sasuke," Tenten interrupted, "Lone survivor turned avenger turned bad turned good. Guy all the girls swoon over even after what you've done. That's why. That is why you have got to be joking by coming here and asking me not only to spar with you but to accompany you on a double date with Naruto and Hinata later this evening," She crossed her arms and turned away from the slightly less stoic Uchiha, "You're a real piece of work, Uchiha."
"You done?" She nodded, "Good. Look, you were the first person I thought to ask after I foolishly promised the dobe and the Hyuuga girl that I'd bring a 'date'."
"We barely know each other," She spat over her shoulder, "We've only spoken about three times in the two months you've been back. Take Sakura. If not, I'm sure any girl will willingly be caught having a bowl of ramen with you."
"No. She may be my comrade and friend but that crush of hers is delusional. Besides, you're tolerable. I imagine I can stand spending a night having an actual conversation with you."
At that Tenten blushed ever so slightly. It wasn't much to be called "tolerable" but coming from a guy like him, she'd take it.
Still, she didn't want to go on a date with him. Everyone knew she was single and she highly doubts anyone would believe that he asked her on a date, not that that was her number one problem. His fan club was.
"Uchiha," she sighed as she turned to face him, "I don't mind sparring with you if your still up for it but a date is just, how do I put this? Bizarre, in a way. We don't know each other well enough. And, frankly, I'm not okay with accompanying someone on a date that I hardly know. Besides, that fan club of yours would go rabid. So, to answer your question, no. My answer is no."
She watched as he simply sighed, put his hands in his pockets, and turned around. Had she made the right choice? She was honest, at least. And, he seemed to be taking the rejection well. Tenten decided to turn around and start walking slowly away from his still form.
"That's why I like you, Tenten." She stopped as he spoke over his shoulder to her. "We can be friends. Then, I'll just ask you on another 'date'." She turned around to see that he still had his back turned towards her and his hands in his pocket. "And, by the way, I'm still up for that spar. We'll do it tomorrow morning. Seven. Bring lunch."
With that he was gone. Leaving a confused, flustered, and slightly amused Tenten behind.
He liked her, even if he only meant as a friend, and that flustered her because he's the kind of guy that's honest when he does speak.
The kind of guy that means what he says and doesn't regret it.
He's the kind of guy that's blunt all the time because he knows there's no point in lying.
Yeah, he was definitely that kind of guy.
