Safe with You
"Hey Han! What's up?" Caleb asked walking up behind Hanna. She was at the Rosewood park swinging on the swings.
"I'm just thinking." She answered as normal as possible.
"You're sitting by yourself on the swings. The Hanna I know goes to the mall every chance she gets." Caleb teased. Hanna laughed and turned to face him.
"There's something I have to tell you." She confessed biting her lower lip.
"What is it Hanna?" he asked quickly. When she didn't say anything for a few minutes he began to fidget.
"Hanna you're killing me here. I hate to see you like this. Please tell me what's going on." He begged leaning closer to her still frame.
"I..." she began. Hanna stopped hesitantly looking over her shoulder. Caleb turned to see what she was looking at. He scanned the crowd of people who were gathered outside of the nearby café. He saw a few of the moronic football players and a few nerds from Rosewood High. Finally his eyes found a tall man with dark hair. He was muscular and had dark eyes like Caleb's. He turned back to face Hanna.
"I found your dad." She said slowly. This time it was Caleb who sat silently.
"I was scared to tell you after what you'd told Aria back at the fundraiser. I knew you wanted to see him so I searched for him and got really lucky. When I found him I called and he actually listened to me. I told him how you'd always looked for him and wished to see him. He got really emotional. I asked him to come and see you. He didn't hesitate."
"Why were you scared to tell me?" Caleb asked confused.
"I thought you'd be upset that he hadn't tried to find you."
"Hanna I've been waiting 18 years to see him!"
"I know I'm sorry I just didn't want to…"
"I'm not mad. Hanna, thank you so much! I never imagined that I'd really find him." He reached over and wrapped him arms around her.
"I love you so much Hanna. Don't ever forget that."
"I won't, she promised, I love you too." She leaned in and gave him a small kiss.
"Alright! You ready to go meet your dad?" she asked. She couldn't help but smile as he looked nervously over to where his dad was standing. Hanna took his hand in her's and squeezed it. Then he followed her over to HIS dad. Caleb couldn't have asked for a better person in his life. He knew that no matter what was happening with his screwed up family, he would always have her to make him feel safe.
