"Probie! Shit, where's Gibbs, he's gonna skin me alive!" Tony Dinozzo yelled at Timothy McGee as he entered the busy offices frantically looking around.
"He's not in yet, don't worry." Tim looked at the dishelved appearance of his coworker and friend and couldn't help but wonder whom the lucky (or unlucky as it might be), woman was.
"Not in? I'm an hour late. That would make HIM an hour late. Gibbs is never late… The last time I can remember him being late was… O shit, he just got divorced didn't he?" Tony didn't wait for an answer, he just walked over to his desk, counting the minutes for the boss man to arrive, already knowing the reason for the boss's tardiness.
Five hellish hours later Tony's waiting was finally rewarded. Gibbs entered the office looking no worse for the wear, a big smile on his face.
"So boss, where you been, don't you think you're a bit, I don't know, late?" Tony couldn't believe he'd just spoken to Gibbs that way. To Gibbs!
"I took some vacation time, went to Vegas, met the person I want to spend the rest of my life with, alls well!"
Tony looked at the SMILE on Gibbs face. Gibbs never smiled; it just wasn't a feature he had ever learned to use. Never before, not even after meeting the next woman of his dream had Gibbs ever smiled. It was an anomaly, and it had Tony worried. Who was this woman and what had she done with the Gibbs they all knew?
"Tony I'd like you to meet my fiancé, we'd really be honoured if you'd walk us down the aisle." Before Tony had any clue what was happening Gibbs pulled somebody from behind the wall next to which he had been standing.
In a matter of seconds the smile on Gibbs' face grew into a splitting grin, the person next to him gave a quiet chuckle and for the first time in Tony Dinozzo's life, he felt the air rushing out his body, blood moving to his feet and in one short moment, he hit the floor beneath him, out like a candle.
The smile on Gibbs' face didn't even threaten to leave, with a chuckle he quickly grabbed a glass of water from a nearby desk and drenched Tony with it.
Groggily Tony awoke again to look into the LAUGHING face of his boss. Stunned he looked at the person next to him again and couldn't find any words to say.
"Sorry Tony, but you didn't actually think that this year would go by without any April's fool jokes, did you? I just waited a month so you'd be left off-guard."
No longer able to contain his laughter Harmon Rabb Junior watched the expressions on the young man's face in front of him go from shock, to understanding, to anger and finally a lop-sided grin formed as he allowed both men to pull him to a standing position.
"So you think it's funny? Well Captain Rabb, just remember one thing, and this goes for you too Gibbs. Payback's a bitch!"
"Sorry Tony, but nothing you do can top this one. I am now undoubtedly the April fool's king of NCIS! Come on, coffees on me, just don't think you can get the rest of the day off!" Gibbs gave a final laugh as both him, Captain Rabb and Tony Dinozzo left the stunned room around them to get some of the good stuff.
