A little thing for Sweetie and me in celebration of our birthday

Northern Star

The stormy rain was pouring down heavily against the street. She had suddenly realized she'd parked too far from the entrance and she was now soaking wet in spite of the huge colorful umbrella she had clutched in her hands. Traffic had been a total pain and she was late even though had almost escaped from a very important meeting at the office.

But above everything else, she was going to make this. She had recently learned what was important in her life. She had once been foolish enough to pick all the wrong choices and build excuses over excuses, getting lost in the process.

No matter how lost she'd been, she'd always found the way to return back to her star, the only person that had been strong and stubborn enough to push her back on track.

She stopped for almost a second as she noticed a man, just a few meters away, standing under a black umbrella in front of the door as if waiting for someone.

She recognized him.

He'd been waiting for her.

The rain had misted up those famous red glasses she had been wearing, but she could still see his handsome features, she could feel his eyes looking straight to her. Many years had passed and she still felt overwhelmed by those brown shining eyes of his that could blaze in burning anger and, at the same time, forgive her completely in just an instant.

She walked to him and she was hesitant for a while, whether to speak or just let herself go from the feelings that were building inside of her. After all those years… she still felt her body shake of uncontrolled emotions, reacting to his presence.

The memory of the young Betty in her made her swiftly cover the distance that separated them and remember the same passion of fifteen years ago back when his lips touched hers for the first time and enfolded her in a vortex of confusion and emotion. Just like it was still that day.

The umbrella fell from her hands and she let herself sink in the pleasure of his lips.

Someone pulled her coat, pulling her back to reality. Still reluctant to break from the kiss, she looked down.

"Mommy! Mommy! You came!" said a little beauty of big curious eyes and bushy hair.

"I promised you she would, didn't I?" Gio said welcoming the young girl into his strong arms to protect her from the rain. "Now let's go inside and meet your brothers. We don't want you to catch a cold before your ballet presentation, do we?"

He held her tightly as they finally entered the school. Betty followed them, squeezed together under the umbrella.

She knew, not matter what the future would hold and how many decisions she'd have to face, she'll always have her Northern Star, her family, to pull her back to reality. She'll always have her Gio. And he'll always be waiting for her. Always.
