"Oh do be quiet Salazar; I cannot be doing with your insolent whining."
"Oh contraire Rowena – it is now you who is whining."
"Very funny, hilarious, I'm laughing, cant you see?" Rowena spat.
Smirking, Salazar knew he'd gotten under his friend's skin. The two of them never seemed to be able to be in the same room without creating friction anymore, Helga sighed. The shortest out of the four founders she stood at least a foot smaller than Godric; looking up at the man himself Godric too sighed. It was true – the four of them, especially Rowena and Salazar, never seemed to be able to agree on anything any more.
"Rowena, Salazar, can we set this aside for just a few minutes so we can eat?" Godric asked tentatively, trying to not to set off Rowena's terrible temper. Huffing, Rowena sat down at the table and straightened her robes, a vivid cobalt blue. Salazar slipped into the seat next to her, a smirk still plastered across his sharp features.
"Fine. Just don't expect me to talk to him."
"Fine." Helga replied – she couldn't be doing with anymore arguments, and if they weren't talking, surely they couldn't argue. By far the most passive of the group, she sighed as Rowena shot daggers towards Salazar who smiled innocently.
How wrong she was - no less than two minutes into the lunch an argument had erupted and was spiralling out of control.
"But why would you only want to teach the pure blood children! Surely it is better to only teach the ones of the highest intelligence? That way we only receive the best of the best?" Rowena argued, her long brown hair swishing and catching the light as she spoke. Her cobalt eyes alight with the prospect of an argument.
"Surely we should only teach the bravest?" Godric joined in. "That way if we come under attack they will be able to defend us?" his shoulder length blonde hair sticking out at odd angles, giving him the impression of having a mane. 'How ironic!' Helga had often giggled to herself 'That his emblem is a lion and he's slowly turning into one!'
"But if we teach the ones with intelligence, there will be no need for us to be defended as they'll be smart enough not to get into trouble with other people!" Rowena spat – her vicious temper once again making itself known – it was something she was famed for, as well as her immense intelligence.
"I say it is just the pure blooded wizards that we shall teach – the purer blood, the better the wizard or witch." Salazar Slytherin spat.
"Do you know how stupid you sound?" Godric accused. Standing up in his chair, with his muscles and masculine stance he towered above slender Salazar, however he looked undaunted, almost like he'd been dealing with people like Godric all of his life, which of course he had – being a parsel mouth, a trait often associated with the dark arts, it was often assumed that he was a dark wizard himself, standing up to people had been the story of his life. Although Salazar was a slender man, not particularly tall in stature, nor well built, he radiated power; sleek and slender, he often reminded Helga of a prowling jaguar.
Having had enough of the childish squabbling, Helga decided she had to make her opinion known.
"Well I'll teach them all! Pure blood or muggle born, brave or cowardly, genius or village fool, I'll teach them all! I don't discriminate!" her long red hair swishing around her shoulders, cascading around her torso and down her back. And with that she stormed out of the hall and didn't speak to any of the other three founders for the rest of the night.
Authors note: Just a quick little one shot about the founders of Hogwarts! The idea came to me whilst I was writing something else and thought it would be a fun idea to write about tell me what you think! TTFN xxx
