AN: Something really random that just popped into my head xD Set somewhere in the 3rd series, no spoilers apart from evil Morgana, andthat's a spoiler how? Anyway, read on for randomness!
"Stupid prat," Merlin muttered as he stormed into Gaius's chambers. He couldn't believe it! How could that royal, stuck up, dollop head ever be the king that the prophecies expected him to be? Honestly, how was it his fault that Arthur didn't look where he was going and crashed straight into Gwen in the middle of the courtyard? How was it his fault that Uther was watching?
He sat down on a chair and glowered at the floor, ignoring Gaius's bemused cough. Just because Arthur was in a mood, why did he have to suffer? First training, then the stables – Merlin scowled just at the thought of the foul place – then another list of endless chores. Then another threat from Morgana. How could his life get any worse?
"Merlin? What's happened now?" he heard Gaius ask.
Standing up, Merlin started gesturing wildly with his hands. "That idiotic clotpole managed to run straight into Gwen in the middle of the courtyard, knocking them both to the floor, and Uther was watching. So guess whose fault it is? Not the oaf that ran into the poor girl in the first place, oh no, obviously it's Merlin's fault. Because everything's always Merlin's fault. Then because Arthur's in a mood, we have to do some training. Doesn't just steam it out in his room like a normal person – since when was Arthur normal? No, he has to bash some poor, not-so-defenceless-servant-who-has-to-act-like-he-couldn't-beat-Arthur-with-a-flash-of-his-eyes just to make himself feel better! I mean, who does that? Then he gives me another list of completely pointless and endless chores, and then Morgana decides to make a not-so-surprising visit and threat – where's her originality gone? - to tell me blah-blah this and blah-blah that. And I go through this every single day of my life for some stupid, supercilious, condescending, arrogant, stuck-up, dollop head who can't even get dressed in the morning without help, all because of my so-called destiny. I swear, the Dragon and the Druids, and just about every prophecy about Emrys and the Once and Future King are wrong! I mean, how the hell could that royal prat unite all of Albion? It's just not possible! And I do all of this for a stupid destiny that I don't even care about. I mean, what the hell is destiny anyway? I bet it was just some joke that the Dragon set up – there is no way this could have been foreseen. Well, that prats ego could have been, but not this Once and Future King stuff, anyway. Because there is no way that His Royal Pratness could ever be looked up to and loved by a kingdom – no way in hell. You know what? I quit! I quite life, I quit destiny, and I quit being the clotpoles manservant! I QUIT!" he yelled the last bit, then stormed into his room, slamming the door behind him and leaving a very shocked and confused Gaius behind.
