So, I've always been just a reader/reviewer. This is my first time attempting to write a fic (ficlet, really) of my own...Please, let me know what you think. *bites nails*
Disclaimer: They aren't mine and all that...
She goes to bed early. Not because she is a morning person. Not because she is tired from a long day. No, she goes to bed to early because the earlier she goes to bed, the earlier she gets to sleep; and the earlier she gets to sleep, the more time she has to dream.
She has always had very vivid dreams, filled with tiny details that are so exact they make each dream seem like reality. She's always referred to her dreams as her "other world," because that's exactly what they feel like- the real world with the same people, same house, same career, same office, same feelings; just different circumstances…very different circumstances.
In her "other world," his first greeting of the day is much more than, "Oi! Fosta!" or brushing past her without saying a word. No, his first greeting happens long before she gets to the office- it happens right after the alarm clock beeps. She feels his strong arms, which have held her lovingly and protectively all night, tighten around her as he kisses her softly and whispers, "Good morning, love."
In her "other world," you can no longer see the tan line that her left, third finger has donned the past couple of years. That line is covered by the ring he picked out for her. A ring that suits her more than any other piece of jewelry she has ever owned. A ring that proves she was not just seeing things she wished to see when she saw that look in his eyes so many years ago.
In her "other world," she is the only woman he looks at with those eyes. The eyes that make you feel like the only other person in the room. The eyes that can make you completely lose your train of thought right when you're about to let him have it for doing something reckless, even if he did have the best of intentions. The eyes that make any combination of words suddenly seem inadequate compared to how much he just told you without any utterance.
In her "other world," she doesn't stay late in her office hoping and praying he will remember she is there and stop by. She doesn't have to make up silly excuses like, "Have you seen my phone?" to go into his office. No, in her "other world," he stops by at least every hour just because he "wanted to see that beautiful smile."
In her "other world," she doesn't go home to an empty house wondering where he is, who he is with, and what he is doing; because, you see, when she gets home, they are together. They relax and enjoy each other's company together. They have dinner (which he cooked) and dessert (which she baked) together. They look over their latest case as they sit comfortably on the couch together before they call it a night and go to bed, together.
She goes to bed early. Why? Because the sooner she's asleep, the sooner she will be in her "other world."
