"Mel, wait."
"No! I've had it with you!"
"Please. Just give me another chance."
"You've had enough chances!"
Crossroads
Seem to come and go
Yeah
"C'mon, Mel. Please. I'm sorry."
"No! You expect me to forgive you after what you did?!"
"Mel, I was drunk."
"You're not helping your case. You told me you quit drinking over a year ago."
"I'm sorry."
"I don't care! I'm so furious with you right now!"
"I'm sorry, Mel. I messed up."
"You sure did! How could you cheat on me…and with Taylor, of all people?!"
"I didn't know what I was doing."
"You couldn't stop undressing her for a moment to think, 'Hey. I have a fiancé. I shouldn't be hooking with one of our best friends?!'"
The gypsy flies from coast to coast
Knowing many, loving none
Bearing sorrow, havin' fun
But back home he'll always run
To sweet Melissa
"I…I'm sorry."
"You should be! Now get out!"
"Mel-"
"No!"
"I-"
"Leave!"
"I just-"
"Get lost!"
"I'm-"
"Go!"
"Mel-"
"Get out!"
"But-"
"Now!"
"Please, baby-"
"Don't call me that!" She punched his face as hard as she could.
Freight train
Each car looks the same
All the same
He cupped his nose as it bled. "I'm sorry."
"Get out!"
"This is my house."
"Fine! Then I'm leaving!"
"Mel, wait."
She pushed him out of the doorway of the bedroom and headed for the front door. "I'll get my stuff later."
"Please. Wait. I'm sorry."
Melissa opened the door, then stopped and turned back to the man. She pulled the wedding ring from her finger and threw it at him. "Goodbye, Jackson."
And no one knows the gypsy's name
No one hears his lonely sighs
There are no blankets where he lies
In all his deepest dreams the gypsy flies
With sweet Melissa
"Wait."
But she was already out the door.
He ran outside. "Mel, wait. Please. Please. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Please, don't leave me."
She got into her car, abandoning the man.
"Mel, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Don't leave me, Mel. Please." He was in tears as he watched her pull out of the driveway. "Mel, please!"
Again the morning's come
Again he's on the run
Sunbeams shinin' through his hair
Appearing not to have a care
Well pick up your gear and gypsy roll on
Roll on
Jackson sat on the floor in front of the couch, drowning out his pain with alcohol. He took a drink from the bottle.
He held the diamond ring, spinning it around on his finger.
He'd screwed up. He knew that. He wished he could just take it all back.
Crossroads
Will you ever let him go
Lord...Lord
Melissa was the only one that knew him…that understood him. And now she was gone.
He'd never get her back.
She wouldn't forgive him.
Without Melissa, he was nothing.
She was what kept him going everyday.
If she wasn't there, he had nothing left to live for.
Or will you hide the dead man's ghost
Or will he lie...beneath the clay
Or will his spirit float away
He took a long swig of the alcohol, then set it next to him.
The bottle tipped over, Jackson's coordination being off in his drunken state. The liquid spilled onto the floor.
Jackson picked up the gun that lay next to him on the floor.
But I know that he won't stay
Without Melissa
He put the .44 magnum to his head and pulled the trigger.
Yes I know that he won't stay
Without Melissa
