As his hand approached the small of her back, her head flew back with a laugh that could only be described as, well, laughable. His eyes brightened at the scene of her genuine joy. That's all he wanted that day, or any day for that matter. All he wanted was to make her as happy as she made him. He watched as the rain drops wet her smooth skin, as her smile grew bigger and her laugh grew uncontrollable.

She wanted him. She wanted Matthew, she did. But as they laughed together, as she loved him, Jackson was always in the back of her mind. I don't think she knew how much she loved Jackson. She wanted to pretend that Matthew was enough for her, because, well, what would Jesus do? So she sucked it up, and she poured her heart and soul into Matthew because she had to be the good girl.

She loved Matthew exactly as she was called to.

But then she actually started speaking to Jackson again.

"Page Jackson." April said to the new intern. In about 5 minutes Avery came jogging into the ER and April stopped him. "Male, 45, has been burned pretty bad. One of the only survivors of the fire down on State Street."

"Damn, okay." Avery responded casually. Their work never seemed to be affected by this break up/pregnancy scare/sex thing they had going on. Avery walked to the patient and began working on him, and April moved on to the next trauma coming in the door.

It had been 4 hours since the burn patient came in, and Jackson still stood over him, causing the man agonizing pain in order to heal him. April walked over, her shift complete, and asked if Jackson needed anything. "A coffee would be incredible right now."

"Am I your maid? I meant medical help!" She tried so hard to push Jackson away like this, and be rude, because if she didn't, she would fall right back in his arms. And she couldn't do that. She had to be the good girl. So she walked out into the hallway and made her way to an on call room.

Two hours later, coffee in hand, Jackson walked in. "Oh gosh I'm sorry I didn't know anyone was in here." Jackson turned to leave April scrambled to put pants back on.

"No I'm sorry, I forgot to lock the door. I was just leaving." April headed for the door.

"Wait, if you don't have a shift to get to, would you wanna go grab some coffee?" Jackson questioned.

"Umm, you already have coffee.." April raised one of her eyebrows in confusion.

"Well yeah, but you don't. And sitting in a cafeteria drinking coffee alone isn't quite my idea of fun." Jackson smirked.

God, April could not speak to that man. "No I have to get home." April stormed out and shut the door behind her. Leaning gently back against it, Jackson on the other side, she breathed heavily.

Temptation's a bitch.
