To most, those three words signified forever, but she knew better.

Her father told her he loved her, before leaving her to live with his gay lover in France.

Her mother told her that she loved her, just the way she was, before telling her that maybe she shouldn't eat that croissant. Then she would leave to France, or Rome or somewhere else far away in Europe.

Nate told her he loved her, but always after she said it first, and always lacking in conviction. He left her too; not physically but emotionally.

Serena told her she loved her, usually when she was drunk, but she left for boarding school, without even a goodbye.

Chuck told her he loved her, not in so many words but she knew what he meant, before leaving her on that plane.

It seemed she was always getting hurt by those words.

But she needed him to say it.

Three words, eight letters, one meaning.

That was all it would take. All it would take for them to be able to be together.

But he didn't say it.

And that hurt most of all.

She would take the chance, the chance of him leaving her, if it meant they would be together, even for a short while.

But he didn't, and it was her turn to leave for a change. She didn't look back.

She wasn't sure her heart could stand being broken again.

He wanted to say it but he couldn't.

She needed to hear him say it.

He needed to hear himself say it.

But he couldn't tell her. He couldn't tell Blair.

He couldn't set himself up to be destroyed.

But she knew, and he knew, hell, the whole of the Upper East Side probably knew.

But he hadn't said it, and now she was walking away from him. Again.

She'd walked away from him the morning after their first time.

She'd walked away from him after he confessed to having butterflies.

She'd walked away from him at Cotillion.

She'd walked away from him after he confronted her about being pregnant.

Each time had hurt a little more than the first. So he promised himself it wouldn't happen again. Next time she wouldn't walk away from him. He'd tell her whatever she wanted to hear.

He'd do anything for her.

Yeah, I know, not some of my best work, but I'm too hyper over the fact that GG is back and it's downloading RIGHT NOW! I saw this bit on YouTube already though, and seriously, you an feel their pain, and I thought I just had to write this otherwise I might like spontaneously combust with excitement or something, so yeah.
