I do not own Lord of the Rings or the Hobbit in any way.

Legolas stormed up to his father, who sat in his throne. "Where is she?" Legolas demanded.

"Where is who?" Thranduil asked his son.

"Where is Adlanna?" Legolas asked.

"Her, I've banished her from Mirkwood", Thranduil said.

Legolas' heart stopped. "You banished her?!" Legolas snapped.

"She defied my direct order", Thranduil said.

"And if I should die? You will have no heir", Legolas said.

"You won't", Thranduil told him.

Legolas stared at his father and then got down on his knees.

Thranduil straightened up at the sight of his son kneeling to him.

"Father, I beg of you. She is the only elleth in Middle Earth I could even think of marrying", Legolas said softly.

"I'm afraid you've come too late. She is on her way to Rivendell as we speak", Thranduil said.

"What?!" Legolas hissed.

Thranduil stood and said, "I knew you would come to me on her behalf. So I made sure she was outside Mirkwood's borders".

"Father…" Legolas begged.

"Stand up Legolas. A prince does not get down on his knees and beg", Thranduil told him.

Legolas got up and stormed away from his father.

"You are not to go after her", Thranduil said.

This stopped Legolas in his tracks.

He couldn't defy his father.

*70 years later*

Adlanna had adjusted to living live in Rivendell. She still missed Mirkwood, but here she was allowed to walk the grounds without fear of being attacked. She loved to go to the garden and lie there. She missed Legolas more than anything. She was the garden one day, when Elrond approached her. She resisted the urge to kneel, like she had to with King Thranduil.

"I have called a council to discuss the One Ring", he said.

Adlanna closed her book. "And who is representing Mirkwood?" she asked him.

"I think you know, my dear", he said.

Adlanna's heart fluttered. She would get to see her prince once again.

For the next few days, Adlanna waited anxiously. Then she heard the horn blow. She got up and ran to her balcony. She saw them riding up. She ran through the halls and corridors to the gate, where she met them.

Legolas dismounted his horse and she ran into his arms. Legolas wrapped his arms around her, smiling. He placed a kiss on her head. "I've missed you", he said.

"I've missed you too, my prince", she said. She pulled back and looked at her former friends.

"You seem happier", Legolas said.

"As much as I miss home, I do love it here in Rivendell", she told him, "But your father…"

"I don't care about what my father thinks. I've always loved you", Legolas told her.

Adlanna's heart stopped.

The Prince of Mirkwood loved her.

"I love you too, Legolas", she said.
