Bento

"What?"

"…I'm sorry Tsukasa."

It was obvious to see that she was trying to keep the tears from flowing.

"It'll be okay Tsukasa. You'll see."

Wipe that stupid smile off your face. Do I look like an idiot? You can't cure cancer. It's that simple. So stop lying to yourself… And stop lying to me.

---

The bed was cold. At least, the other half was. Usually that idiot would be there, snoring up till the afternoon if I wasn't there to wake her up.

"Good morning young master."

"Yo."

"That's not how you're supposed to greet Tama in the morning!!"

I blinked and found myself on the floor. Figures. Never rely on your sister to wake you up in the morning.

---

"So… Tsukasa."

"What?"

"How is Tsukushi-chan?"

"She says she's alright. I'll be visiting her at around 9:15."

"What?! What kind of husband are you?! You're 21, for Pete's sake! Be more of a man! Burst into that hospital and see how Tsukushi-chan is doing!"

"…Who's Pete?" I was sent flying after I said that.

"You IDIOT!!! Just go to the hospital NOW!!"

From under her foot, I could see Tama come in and stand next to my sister.

"Tsubaki-sama."

"Yes, Tama?"

"Visiting hours don't start until 9 A.M."

---

"Here," I said as I handed her the roses I bought.

"Thanks."

We were silent and for a moment, I panicked and whirled around to see if she was still here with me.

Oh God.

She saw me stare at her.

"You thought I was dead, didn't you? Don't underestimate me, Tsukasa!" She glared at me.

I returned the glare.

"Well, maybe if you actually said something I wouldn't have had to panic like that."

"…Yeah. Sorry."

"It's alright. Don't apologize." We were silent again."

"Tsukasa."

"Yes?" I looked up at her.

"Do you remember the time you were in the hospital and I made you a bento?"

"How could I forget? It tasted horrible." I smirked.

"Shut up!" She yelled, smiling. She threw a pillow at me but I easily caught it.

"I was kidding. It tasted good. Besides, you know that as long as you're the one who makes it, I'll eat it."

"…I know."

"So, what was it about that bento that you wanted to say?"

"Well… Since I made you a bento when you were in the hospital…"

She started to play with her fingers while I looked at her in confusion.

"Do you think you can make me one?"
