A/N: Cracky one shot!
"Do you want the good news or the bad news?" Holtz had gathered her fellow females in one of the roomier cupboards in the firehouse.
"This better not be 7 minutes in heaven" Patty warned.
"No but I will remember that as a ploy." Holtz grinned and then winked at Erin whose blush could still be seen in the dingy light.
"Just give us the good news." Abi sighed, knowing Holtz' love for dramatic flair could take some time when she just wanted out of the cramped cupboard space.
"Kevin may be smarter than we thought." Holtz explained.
"You mean he figured out the phone?" Erin frowned.
"No, no. He fixed the ghost portal." Holtz shook her head, but continued at the silence from her friends. "I've been trying to nail the science behind the portal and I cannot get the result to match what happened. Everything I've done has not shut the portals down." She shrugged.
"Hold up!" Abi stopped the blonde from continuing. "You've been ripping open ghost portals in our lab!?"
"Yeah, science right?" Holtz looked nonplussed at Abi's reaction.
"Oh my god Holtzman, you have to tell us you're going to do that kind of science!" Abi exclaimed.
"You'd have told me it was a bad idea, I already had the argument in my head with my Mental Abi, Erin and Patty. But really, I can't get the data to match. Instead I've basically had to Control, Alt, Delete the portals to shut them down. No amount of nuclear work would polarise them!"
"You've been using nuclear weapons in here too?!" Patty shouted at the blonde who leant away from the angry woman.
"Yes, but you guys are not focusing here. Do you remember what Kevin said after The Fight?" The others shook their heads. "He said he pushed a load of buttons and the portal shut down. I asked him about the buttons he pushed and he did it on the transformer right next to the portal, essentially the Mercados power supply." Holtz explained. "He really seems to have shut down the portal. Our science, the science used by Rowan hasn't made self-sufficient portals, I checked with Ms Lynch and the National Grid noted the massive drain on power on that evening."
"Hang on, I trust the scientist in you." Erin sighed. "Even if you have extremely questionable morals, really Holtz, nuclear weapons and ghost portals, you're asking for another invasion… nevertheless I trust your scientific rationale and approach. Are you saying New York City was saved by Kevin's mistake?!" She groaned.
"Pretty much."
"Great, does that mean we have to give him a raise?" Patty sighed.
"What are you guys doing in the cupboard?" The deep voice made them all jump, they had been so involved in the conversation they hadn't noticed the man in question open the door and look in. "Are you playing seven minutes in heaven, because if so I was great at that in high school!" He grinned.
"I do not doubt Kev my man." Holtz clapped him on the shoulder. "However you are not my type. Stay in and keep Erin company." She winked again, she took great delight in winding Erin Gilbert up. The bisexual doctor was fun to tease.
"No, no. I need Erin right now. Abi gabbled and the four quickly escaped the cupboard. "Hey Kevin, do you want get to takeout, we'll let you pick?"
"You never let me pick?" He questioned, clueless to the bribe. "But sure, I fancy sushi." He disappeared from view, oblivious to the quiet groans of his colleagues.
"He saved us." Patty stared at the hulking blonde. "Him!?" She was exasperated at the thought, and then repulsed by the thought of sushi. "Hey can we order in pizza as a back-up, once Kevin has fallen into his standard sushi coma?!"
