"Eternal Wish"
A Final Fantasy IX Fanfic

This fanfic is based on the ending of FF9. It's what I think was on Garnet's mind the day she was Queen. Of her Memories
Of Zidane.

I now am Queen of Alexandria. Oh, how I was preparing for this responsibilty. Once, I didn't believe I could do it. Until that faithful
day of meeting of that man of mine. Zidane. I wasn't too sure about him at first. I only thought of him as a ticket out from the palace walls.
But as our adventure began, hr won over my heart.

Steiner, my bodyguard, and once my only friend. He wasn't too sure about Zidane at first. He down-right disliked him at first. But Zidane-sama
taught him to think for yourself, and give yoursef your own commands in life.

Zidane was our virtue.

Freija, Zidane's old friend. They traveled a few times as far back as Zidane told me that is. When she found out her beloved Fratley had lost his memory.
Oh, she was depressed about that at first, but Zidane told her not to give up hope. She didn't.

Zidane was our virtue.

Vivi, when he found out about Kuja's Blackmages and my deseased mother's wish to use them in war. He was devastated at first. But Zidane taught him to
not worry about how other's think of you. But what you think of yourself.

Zidane was our virtue.

Eiko, the spunky girl of the lost Summoners' Tribe. She once befeld to fall in love with Zidane. But she thought I was blinded by Zidane's flirtous behaviour
towards me that she could win his heart. When she tried to write a letter to him. That backfired, or what Eiko told me, anyway. She managed to get over
her 'school crush'. And went on with her life, Zidane had taught her not to ever feel alone. And she didn't.

Zidane was our virtue.

I now am Queen of Alexandria. I once didn't believe in myself, but Zidane taught me not to give up on my goals. And I never did.

Zidane was my virtue.

"Garnet-sama?" A gentle voice came from behind my chamber door. It was Beatrix.

I was dressed in my gown, a silken gown a beautiful baby blue. The train fell below my slender ankles. I turned towards my old friend.

"Yes, Beatrix?" I replied.

"The play is about to start. I suggest you go to your throne now my Queen." She gave me a curtsy.

"Oh, Beatrix, you don't have to bow to me. If it wasn't for your help in the past adventure we had, why I wouldn't be here today.
It is I who should be bowing to you in thanks." I said to my friend.

"But, my Queen, it is tradi--" Beatrix started as I interrupted.

"Yes, Tradition, must'nt forget." I said in a giggle. " Just please, don't make a habit in bowing to me. I am Queen but I'll always me myself, and myself as
a person." I lowered my head.

"Yes." Beatrix agreed smiling.

My Eternal Wish is to never forget my memory of Zidane, never. As I took my seat on the throne, of its velvet cushion, which was quite comfortable. But
I'd care less about some seat. I always loved "I want to be your canary" it t'was my favourite play. It was also the play of which I met Zidane-sama. ...
Zidane-sama...

"Well, now it seems they resigned a new Marcus. He has a hood." Beatrix pointed out to Steiner.

I just wish I could see my Zidane again. I thought that throughout until the curtain was drawn....
