Sam's Lament for Frodo

The starry night skies

Reflect in your eyes

Like sparkling gems in the sea

***

Your ship in the bay

Will soon sail away

Taking you distant from me

***

I opened my heart

You've torn it apart

My vision is clouded with tears

***

Now you're not here

My heartache is near

To live on through all of the years

***

I turn to make tracks

So never look back

And all of my future hope dies

***

But there in the end

No comfort or friend

Is as close as those starry blue eyes
