Sasuke fell to the ground and made an attempt to sit upright, his head hanging over his knees. He felt his head spin as his consciousness began to slip.

"…ah, don't worry about him. He's fine…" She was speaking to someone else. "Hang on…lost a lot of blood…" Her voice sounded so distant, but he felt her touch his arm.

"Sasuke-kun." He looked up and met her vivid, sea-green eyes for a moment, trying to fight back the onset of blackness now beginning to cloud his vision. "Are you okay?"

He answered weakly with a noncommittal, "Unn…"

She was healing the gash across his chest now and instantly the sharp burning was replaced with a calm, soothing sensation.

As much as Sasuke hated to add to his tally of fights he blacked out after, he had to admit that it was the source of some of the best sleep he could get lately. It was hard to have nightmares when he was completely exhausted.

He was so sick of seeing his family die night after night. He didn't want to listen to the screams and begging and pleading for life anymore. He didn't want to relive all the fights with Itachi or the overwhelming feeling of hopelessness.

Why couldn't he just have normal dreams? Like stupid ones about forgetting homework or kittens or whatever it is that other people dream of.

"...ke-kun, try to stay awake, please." His attention was brought back to his current situation.

Oh.

He was slumped over Sakura's shoulder and she was trying to gently remove him from her already badly bruised shoulder.

"Just lay down if you can't sit up."

It isn't as if she's helping him stay conscious. The pain was what had kept him alert.

He felt the cold ground under his head and he let himself continue to drift, wondering if they all would still be in the current situation, minus himself, if he hadn't decided to help in the war.

Would Naruto and Sakura have been able to manage? Would Obito and Madara succeed in their plan?

Something warm and wet dripped onto his neck.

Tears..?

Yeah. Tears.

Of course Sakura would be crying. She was always crying. He knew she tried really hard not to, but she couldn't help it. A vague sense of guilt crept over him.

"It's okay." He exhaled.

"Sorry. I just really missed you." She blinked away a few more tears and continued healing him.

He caught a flash of pink hair and a shaky smile just before his vision faded out completely.
