Author Note: Some of the timeline will be off for this one, but I was not planning on following the script of Resident Evil but instead using the characters you all love and making my own story line. Please, enjoy, be courteous, & review (I do take constructive criticism ). I will try my best to do the same for you.
Disclaimer: I do not own the Characters, but a girl can dream right?
Without further adieu…here comes Chapter One
B
Update Oct-7-2015: As I prepare to add more to Calm Before the Storm I figured I should go back and look over what I posted almost two years ago to the story that started it all. This way I can make some editorial changes while also refreshing my memory on what things I left off with in the end.
Secrets & Flies
Alice awoke with a start. A white washed ceiling decked out with bright, incandescent lights stared back at her. She moved her left hand, and then her right as an uncontrollable pain coursed through her body. Gripping the sides of the metal slab, Alice lifted her stiff body upright, fighting the pain. She screamed in agony as tubes and catheters ripped from her arms and the side of her skull.
What the hell happened?
The wall across from her was one two-way mirror, glimpsing into an observation room of sorts. Alice ripped the plugs out of her body, taking strands of blonde hair with her from the needles embedded in her head. When she looked down, she noticed she was naked, the only thing covering her body being a flimsy, paper apron tied at the sides.
A young, British girl's voice echo in her head. "Alice, wake up."
Angie.
Everything changed with a flash. Now she was submerged in water. Alice opened her eyes, expecting everything to be blurry, but could see perfectly clear. A tube was shoved down her throat, blowing bubbles every time she breathed.
The water level suddenly started to lower. Alice attempted to move but her body was strapped to the chair she was in. Within seconds she was shaking, flopping against the glass like an epileptic fish. She was cold and aware she was naked. Memories were slowly returning, flashing in her mind like fragments of a jigsaw puzzle. Snip-its of Valentine, L.J., Carlos, Raccoon City, all came like a tidal wave. She could feel her blood pressure rising, her heart rate quickening.
What the hell had Umbrella done to her?
"Alice," At first she thought it was a part of the dream, her voice soft and distant, but then she heard it again."Alice, wake up."
She opened her eyes, focusing on Claire who was hovering overhead and smiling down at her. She managed to smile back, wiping the cold sweat from her neck and temple. Claire's smile turned to a frown, noticing how pale Alice's skin was and knew that she had, had another nightmare. It was the third one this week and seemed to be more frequent since they escaped their last encounter with Umbrella.
The ship, Arcadia, still had a fair amount of survivors. It was what Umbrella's emergency news casts kept echoing, saying it was a safe haven, infection free. In reality it was a trap, a lure to pray on human ignorance and a vessel for Umbrella to gather more test subjects to create further bio weapons. Even though Claire knew Wesker's helicopter had exploded over the ocean, she had a feeling he was still going to try and make their lives a living hell.
"Are you okay?" Claire asked, tucking a few red strands behind her ear.
"Claire I-." Alice began to say, but stopped, noticing the acceptance in her eyes.
"I know you were having a nightmare. It's the third time this week you've woken up in a cold sweat."
Alice frowned, propping herself up on her elbow. The scratchy sheets moved across her bare skin as Alice suddenly remembered she was naked. The events of last night filled her mind, smiling at the memory of their night of passion. She cupped Claire's face, locking eyes with the red head.
"What's wrong?"
"I hate seeing you like this. I wish there was a way I could make them stop." Claire replied, rubbing her hand against Alice's, feeling just how clammy she was.
"I know Claire. but you know more than anyone that what they did, is irreversible. I'm constantly reminded of how this world had sprung from my doing."
Claire could see tears welling in her lover's eyes, once again getting lost in a different time. There was no one harder on Alice than herself and it hurt Claire that she could not bring her lover salvation. Happy memories were being replaced with horrid ones as Alice insisted on punishing herself over and over.
"This is not your fault. One person could not be responsible for the eradication of the human race." Alice adverted her eyes, but Claire grabbed her attention again. "You saved me Chris, Luther, K-Mart, and everyone else on this ship. Please, remember that."
She knew Claire would always remind her of the positive, to keep those monsters inside her at bay. Claire was forever grateful for Alice coming to Alaska, saving her from the Medusa bug Umbrella had attached to her chest, left in the tundra of Alaska to die while the others she had been sworn to protect were taken hostage. Chris and Luther, would never forget their daring escape from Los Angeles, maneuvering the sewer tunnels crawling with undead, and ending in a battle aboard the Arcadia with Wesker and his infectious dogs. K-Mart would never forget being saved from the confines of a human-sized test tube, waiting helplessly to become the next bio-weapon. None of them would forget their last stand off against Umbrella, mere minutes after they watched Wesker be blown out of the sky. Hundreds of large black hawk helicopters with the Umbrella logo embossed on the side darkened the sky. Jill Valentine, a personal past friend was leading the charge, but as a soldier for Umbrella, also possessed by a Medusa bug.
Everything up until this moment, where love and passion were beginning to replace valor and courage, Alice could not be bothered with. If she was still a monster, a killing machine, these thoughts would never take hold of her heart. Everything Alice has done since Valentine's raid were to protect those she loved and what could honestly remain of the human race. Her own humanity was cracking through the walls she had built up, and Claire knew deep down, she would eventually break those walls.
"You don't know the whole story Claire. The guilt, it travels with me everywhere I go." Alice stated.
"You're right, I don't know the whole story, but that was your choice." Claire rebutted. "You wanted to shut me out and I didn't push the issue. I didn't want to risk making you angry and have you leave me, again."
"Claire-"
"M-maybe, just maybe, if you tell me I can help you. I want to help you Alice. I love you." She whispered, kissing Alice, enjoying the moment for what it's worth.
Alice never wanted to tell Claire about The Hive and the Red Queen. She never wanted to burdened her, or anyone for that matter, with the death toll she had on her conscious every day. The destruction of Raccoon City, what her friend Matt had become, Alice wanted to forget too. It was what children's scary stories were made of. It was a life not worth remembering however, Claire did have a point and Alice hated when that happened.
Claire broke her lips away, "Please Alice. I can handle it, I promise." She urged.
Alice sighed, flopped back onto her pillow. Sunlight was just starting to peak in through the slits of the matted curtains. It had to of be late morning by now. Claire snuggled up beside her, resting her head on Alice's chest, kissing the nape of her neck. Alice wrapped her right arm around Claire's shoulders, entwining their fingers.
"I used to be head of Security at a secret Umbrella lab called The Hive…" Alice recounted, her voice monotone, like she was suddenly on auto pilot.
As she went, Alice felt Claire's body tense with every new event, and the colour drain from her face as the stories got more gruesome. Claire remained silent, hanging on every word until Alice finally finished, waiting for a response. The expectation of tears, anger, any type of reaction Alice was prepared for, but instead there was silence and a blank expression in her lover's eyes. That was worse than any backlash.
"Claire?"
"I-I don't know what to say." Claire confessed, "What you said, it's unbelievable. I mean, if I was not living in the world Umbrella left behind I would think you were crazy, but I don't."
"I don't want any of this spread across the ship, not even to your brother." Alice stated, searching Claire's eyes for reassurance she would not blab this to the first person she came across. "Claire, I'm serious. I do not want to cause a panic, or loose what little trust I have with the remaining survivors. They trust us with their lives."
"Y-yeah of course."
Still unconvinced, Alice pressured further, "Promise? The word infected will make them become irrational and irate."
"But, you're not infected now, right? You said Wesker injected you with something, some type of serum to take your powers away."
"Yes, but remember the shower room at the prison? The ten-foot tall ax wielding freak of nature? I kicked him in the head Claire. That's not human." Alice reasoned.
"Fair," Claire muttered with a shrug. "My lips are sealed Alice, I swear." She kissed Alice's cheek, her chapped lips feeling warm and inviting.
Alice smiled and kissed Claire again this time allowing her hands to gently roam her lovers naked body. Claire moaned at her touch, trembling as the tips Alice's fingers brushed against her skin. Their kisses deepened, nipping at each others lips and scratching their nails down their backs.
To Alice, Claire was the only thing worth living for.
To Claire, Alice was everything she'd die for.

The man had overheard everything. He stopped on his walk down the hall in front of the women's stateroom, his ear pressed against the metal door. It was their moaning that intrigued him the most, looking for a possible porn supplement to take care of his throbbing penis. Instead he got a whole life story, well at least parts of it. The words Nemesis, Umbrella and above all infection echoed loud and clear through the metal door.
This was huge. This possibly meant the end to their safe haven.
He, like so many others, thought they were through the worst of it. This Alice keeps claiming that Arcadia was a safe haven, free from all the horror. She and her band of rebels did overpower Umbrella when they attacked last time, protected them, but at what cost?.
This needed to be shared with the others. Retaliation and upheaval would once again bring order to this place, he was sure of it. Was it possible that one of their protectors was an enemy? She claims to not be human and that was was enough justification he needed to plan a plot to take her out.
Quickly, the man got up off the floor, hearing the woman shuffle around the room, and took off down the hall back to the others.
Something needed to be done and fast.
